awesome pick from Jesse Cook, thanks RP :) didn't hear him before. i live in Istanbul, I know a lot about Byzantine history, this song really catched the soul of empire, bulls eye!

Go see him live if you get a chance. He's incredible, and has a fantastic band with him as well.

I play a Darbuka from time to time (the Turkish drum playing in the background). I just love the energy it gives and this track has reminded me to dust it off and annoy the neighbours.
I like Jesse Cook!

JEEEZ - you guys spend too much time listening to weather on the phone. Maybe you got the Turkish weather channel?
I dream of Byzantium........Weather Channel music? What?? Are you nuts?
It gets me moving at my desk!

LOL! That is exactly what this is, this song was commissioned by the Weather Channel.

Nope. Does nothing for me.
I can't stop envisioning some middle-eastern airline advertising all the wonderful sand-filled destinations they travel to. Whilst simultaneously intermixing a stomach-jiggling veil-swooshing woman fluttering her eyes erotically.
:-k
This is awesome. If this is what on-hold music sounded like, I would start calling Qwest for fun.

Fabulous in my mind, full of rhythm and sway and passion!
The sort of music they play on certain radio stations, when they've (unforeseen) got time left before the commercials or news

Which is also more accurate, referring to place rather than culture, since the influences sound more Ottoman than Greek.
Wonder if he's been in the Great Cisterns(I once dreamed of Byzantium myself)
One of the best of Jesse's I've heard.
