Or Mark Knofler? Thats it!
Elvis Costello, David Byrne
Well, Carlos probably had a sweeter guitar tone, but Tim was indeed more "one of a kind". ; )
That is too funny and spot on man!
for a brief moment i thought it was a cover of SM Abracadabra
just saw comment below
Carlos still had it 28 years ago and he's STILL got it today.
Had/got what?
Is there really anyone more "one of a kind" than Carlos Santana?
Billy Gibbons?
"We forgot to do the album art and its due in 30 minutes"

LOL!! ....Too funny! GREAT TUNE!! Lousy album cover! Thanx RP!
No, it's not the best album cover, but it's definitely not the worst!
(I think they may all be dudes.)
That title.....
TOO FUNNY!!! They all look like guys in drag!!
Not enough Sephora in the world....
This is the best thing I have ever seen on the Interweb. Ever.
This one picture of these three homely women completely makes up for all the bad shit the internet brings... totally worth it. Depression, anxiety, suicide, addiction, the corrosive effects on humanity, democracy, the truth, society in general...totally worth it.
No, it's not the best album cover, but it's definitely not the worst!
Ok -- the one on the left is kinda hot... right?

Is this for real?
it sure is :
The Faith Tones – Jesus Use Me (1964, Vinyl) - Discogs
Yeah - he really likes playing in the Dorian mode.

Is that the actor, Brendan Frazier, on the left? I'm pretty sure that's my little brother's best friend from high school on the right.

YES! The Faith Tones! Once again RP introduces me to music I would never have found in my sheltered world. Thank you

This made me think, I am pretty sure I found RP through the radio station header on AOL. It took me few years of listening before I joined. Lots of love from Sun Prairie as well.
Carlos Santana – guitar (tracks 3-10), producer
Jorge Santana – guitar (tracks 1, 4-5, 7 & 9-11), producer
Carlos Hernandez – guitar (tracks 1-2 & 7-10)
I think your comment is KEY. you can tell carlos after just a few chords. the guy is a phenom. love him and always will.
Jeff Beck
I'm probably going to be stoned to death for saying this, but Santana is way overrated. He's got a real distinct sound, and he's no slouch... but all this grouping him with true legends I feel is inaccurate. Meh.
And can STILL shred with the best of the best!!
And, Rolling Stoned rated him as TWENTIETH best guitar player?? WTF? Cripes, Carlos has got to be near the top ten best, at the very least!! IMHO. And, to answer your question, no, doubtful!!
Maybe David Gilmour?
Or Mark Knofler? Thats it!
Maybe David Gilmour?
Bang on...
A tone with a little more bite would be nice, IMO, but then it wouldn’t really be Santana.
Rythmwise it has something form OfLH but isn't that because it is a bossa nova?
Happy birthday! You da man. One of the very finest. I don't care what the haters here squawk about.
c.
Yeah! That guy can't play at all. Schmoogsley here is REALLY onto something (or is it ON something?). Or maybe just off his meds?
Get back on/off. Cluelessness is not a good look.

I know exactly what you mean...
Props, not on the making fun of a spelling mistake, but doing so with such a HI-larious GIF. Santa instead of Santana kind of reminds me of when all the Sunday evening news anchors had to report on Osama bin Laden's death, only to say over-and-over "Obama's been killed." At least with Santa/Santana/Satan we get good GIFs out of it.
Long Live RP!

If that show doesn't move ya, you might be a corpse.
Cheers!!!
Rock on!
Cheese?
True, my opinions are only based on what I've heard. Suggestions?

Wouldn't it be great if a band playing punk, thrash metal or gangsta rap took over a supermarket for a few hours? I know what you mean about submissiveness and complacency: all you have to do is look at the prepared "foods" and frozen "meals." Are they really what people want, or is that consumers couldn't hit the "Stop" button on the elevator ride down to the lowest common denominator?
I don't know what to make of Santana. A few of his albums from the 70s were brilliant but seemed to have lost popularity until "Supernatural." Some guitarists you'd think were Gods have limitations. There's a video on YouTube about the behind-the-scenes making of U2's "When Love Comes to Town", which they wrote for B.B. King. BB confides at one point, "You guys are gonna have to do the chords. I'm horrible at chords."
Well, I guess ignorance is bliss.
I believe all that you say is true for you, but for me music is all of those things (tone, style, rhythm, etc.) and SO MUCH MORE. I guess, more specifically, Santana's music ultimately does not move or engage me emotionally enough. So, for me, it's missing some sort of magic. I'm fine with being in the minority on this and will now return to my bliss.
Maybe you haven't heard many of Carlos' other songs?
And, sadly, my young friend, I believe you are the poorer for it. Differentiating tone, style, rhythm, technique, equipment, and so much more is one among many of the great discoveries awaiting you if you care to look for them--if you care to look past the superficialities of "this guy always sounds the same..." This is not a dis or a criticism. However, it is a challenge.

Completely subjective, of course. I've just never been a big Clapton fan. Compared to the others on the list, I find him a bit, dare I say, bland.
I've always loved Carlos' playing as well; so pure, so instantly recognizable.
I squeezed him in at # 6:
1) Jimi Hendrix
2) Jimmy Page
3) Jeff Beck
4) Duane Allman
5) David Gilmour
6) Carlos Santana
7) Pete Townshend
8) Eddie Van Halen
I can't believe you put St Pete at 7. That is a tough list to make., how did you leave out Clapton?
When it's all said and done, Carlos has to be listed in the top five of greatest R n R guitarists: Hendrix, Page, Clapton, SRV.
The guy never seems to get enough credit.

I couldn't agree more, and thanks for saying so. He is one of the bona fide heroes of music, truly and superbly gifted. Fabulous and uplifting melodies. 45 years and counting, making music for the world.

Duh!! what else would you expect from Santana?
Maybe you should help George's career out a little, and move across the border.
You don't have a problem with Spanish-speaking immigrants, do you, pal?
I was thinking more about a cro-magnon exhibit at the Chicago's Field Museum. And is that Geraldo on the left?

No!
Ok people, you have to have a little bit of latin blood in order to judge the quality of Carlos Santana's music! I had never heard of this album and I thought that I knew them all. What a magnificent album because it includes his brother George Santana that I have heard was really the original leader of the Santana family of musicians when they grew up in Mexico. The story goes that George, the leader, was about to take the group, that included his little brother Carlos, to Los Angeles to audition for a record company. George had problems with the police and couldn't enter the United States, so George stayed home in Mexico while Carlos went with the band and the rest is history, Carlos arrived in the USA and achieved huge success that enjoys to this day. How funny! Not.
Maybe you should help George's career out a little, and move across the border.
