I don't mind if I am getting nowhere
Circling the seed of light
I've been greedy for some destination
I can't get to where are you?
Turning reverie to perfect solids
Bone and shells to hide ourselves
I tried but can't find refuge in the angle
I'll walk the mystery of the curve

Five colors blind the eyes
See the world inside
Amazed alone

I don't mind if I am getting nowhere
Circling the seed of truth
Telling everything but saying nothing
I went further than I knew
Giving meaning a resuscitation
The darkest soul illuminates
The sky is changing I'm unknowing knowing
As every sign of new life waits

Five colors blind the eyes
See the world inside
Amazed alone

Opening my hands closing wounds I made myself
Raise the dead and bury all my fears
Listen to the rain
And the bells that ring in my dreams
Turning time to break it's line from here
To the small forgotten road
Where we see the concrete world disintegrating

I don't mind if I am getting nowhere
Circling the seed of light
I've been greedy for some destination
I can't get to where are you?
Turning reverie to perfect solids
Bone and shells to hide ourselves
I tried but can't find refuge in the angle
I'll walk the mystery of the curve

One approach to such a conundrum: it's a song. The lyrics speak to a search for something permanent and meaningful, with a religious tinge. To my reading.
Could be Paul McCartney?..

Does anyone else stare at the RP listener map?  https://www.radioparadise.com/RP_flash_map.php?x=1234302541

Blows me away where some of our brothers and sisters are located.  For example, 36 listeners in Beijing at the moment.

Not seen that map for some time now.
Used to check it out off and on.

Just tried to, didn't go anywhere, maybe it has to be on laptop?
Not sure, but I think I once read she is a former hardcore Christian.  That might explain what she's getting at.  Love her slightly flattened vocals either way.

I really like her stuff, and some folks compare her to John Lennon. But then I started watching Gilmore Girls and I kinda got turned off to her stuff - but had to remind myself that for a musician to get a gig like that is a gold mine, comparatively.

There are a few gem moments with her songs in Gilmore Girls, but generally they reuse too much of the same transitional sounds from her. I was surprised to find that she was continually composing for them, because to me it sounds like they keep repeating the same la-la-la tracks... as if there's a library of 30 or so of them that they kept dipping into.

I think you are correct and apologize for my error.
love her voice...

No reply to that but if anybody is interested in seeing her perform she was part of the concert for George Harrison and did a rip up performance of horse to the water. I like what I have heard of her on RP and none of it has been anything I would call "christian" music.

Her first few records are Christian but none since she changed her name to Sam, I think. The last few cds don't seem to have any (obvious) Christian themes.

I think she gave that up a long time ago...
Nice...  in spite of her shady Watchtower past!

i think she's a half step down and the main part is just Amin, F, C, Emin.

Very nice voice. Sort of smoky.
I was a huge fan of the book "A Midnight Clear" and when it was made into an indie movie in '92 I made it a point to see it and sit though the credits at the end - which featured a really interesting version of the Christmas carol. So I made a note of the artist - Sam Philips. I sought out her albums at the local record store and I've been a fan ever since.
I always enjoy hearing Sam sing.

Laa Laaa Laa lalala la laaa la la la la lala la la la la la la lala la la
Gorgeous. This is one of those albums, after seeing the cover in a record store, I would pick up and examine.

Listening to this for the first time, I kept wanting a little percussion to kick in. Then it did! Nice...
Sounds more than slightly Neil Finn-ish to my ears.
I just don't get it. I like Sam Phillips OK but I could live without her. I like Marti Jones the same way. They are so similar I don't get why there are 15 Sam songs in the playlist and no Marti songs except for the 5 or 6 rejections in the LRC.
The five colors blind the eye. The five tones deafen the ear. The five tastes dull the palate. Too much chasing after things just makes the mind crazy. Too many precious things just get in the way. Because of this, the wise person attends to his belly, not his senses. Ignores the latter, listens to the former. – Tao Te Ching, 12

I knew absolutely squat about Sam Phillips until I started listening to RP about four months ago. Now I've downloaded two of her songs -- the second without even realizing the first was also by her -- and I think I'm now going to have to either go with a third, or get an album. Thank you, RP!
Sam Phillips has incredible depth (and some occasional weirdness) to her lyrics coupled with a very "minimalist" approach to her arrangements. She seems to getting more and more comfortable with both as she has evolved since her Christian music days. With her new CD, "A Boot and a Shoe", I believe she has finally found her own unique sound and with it, a level of confidence necessary to really push the boundaries of her music. I saw her live a couple of weeks ago in Santa Fe and was completely spellbound by her music and stage presence. Don't pass up a chance to see her.
love this song (and Sam). beautiful.
I am quite entranced by five colors. I would like to learn to sing and play it on my guitar. But I looked, and I can't seem to find the sheet music (TAB) for it anywhere. Is it published? Has anyone transcribed it? I'd be most grateful if you knew where I could get it.

Just noticed I gave it a 4 earlier, must have been in a foul mood that day, a 7 now :)
Didn\'t she used to be a Christian artist?
Not as strong an album as Martinis & Bikinis, but anything from her is welcome. :)
