There's a lot people don't recall about the 70s. The decade which saw the 60s go mainstream also gave rise to awesome RnB, Funk, Disco, Metal, Prog Punk and Jazz Fusion. Much of that fusion is now derisively referred to as Fuzak (Kenny G, David Sanborn,Deodato, Chuck Mangione) but some of it was brilliant (Mahavishnu, Miles, Weather Report, Tony Williams, Chick Corea) and is rarely ever heard these days.
Sorry to disagree. But tough this quite enyoable, it has nothing to do with te strong vsituoso school of John Maclaughin. Corea, Miles, and the Weatehr Report repertorie. Not to mention Passport and many Zappa works. Esos eran mis favoritos. Kenny G. era motivo de burla. Música de elevador o peor aun de sala de espera de dentista

Much of which 104.1, WBCN, The Rock of Boston played throughout its 43 year history during which it stuck (mostly) to its rock-based yet eclectic roots and none of which you'll ever hear on Classic Rock stations. I remember Eric Jackson playing "Thus Spoke Zarathustra" in its entirety on the overnight around the time of "2001: A Space Odyssey" for instance. Lots of country too, like Willie and Merle. Musical diversity the likes of which we only hear on gems like Radio Paradise today, not on the most popular FM station in a major metropolitan city.

I'm gonna sit here and keep pushing for other Deodato songs... or anything in that whole progressive jazz genre of the late 1970s. There were some quite interesting songs from that era.

I usually don't like this type of piece, taking a (fantastic) classical theme and mangling it into a form of music barely suitable for an elevator. However, this is really growing on me today, and I might even be grooving along in my chair, ever so slightly.

No comparation between mangione or g. benson and the mastering og Miles or John M. Uno jugaban a tocar bonito y mal btw. Otros eran virtuosos. I think Deodato ranks in the middle

To me it sounds exactly like the mid-1970s, especially electric piano and the rest of the instrumentation. That's not a knock on it, just an observation. Nice guitar work.

I have not heard anybody refer to Passport in a long time (GREAT band). Now, Kenny G. is very talented, like him or not, just don't call his music "jazz" and I won't scream at you!
