In the happyland

Poison my sight while you kiss me goodnight
In the happyland
Go on and poison my sight while you kiss me goodnight
In the happyland
Well your daddy left home
Mum is still on the phone
Lost belief in
Love's deceiving
Always going, went, gone
Poison my sight while you kiss me goodnight
In the happyland

Close the door and leave your key
You think you've got me but you'll see
When you're starting to lose me
I'm already gone

In the happyland
In the happyland

Night lingers on, we'll be safe until dawn
In the happyland
As the night lingers on, we'll be safe until dawn
In the happyland
Cause your daddy left home
Mum is still on the phone
Lost belief in
Love's deceiving
Always going, went, gone
Night lingers on, we'll be safe until dawn
In the happyland

Close the door and leave your key
You think you've got me but you'll see
When you're starting to lose me
I'm already gone

In the happyland
In the happyland

They will hurt you
And desert you
That's what they do
Run

In the happyland

Wow my first thought was she was singing from somewhere like the Carolinas or Tennessee, not Sweden. Nice first listen
Hmm, where is her "Happy Land"?

On the strength of this track (which I like a lot) I went and looked her up. Unfortunately, I wasn't really into her other music, including the original cut of this tune. Bit of a pity, really.

Medium hot.  What a weird thing to say.

She finished high in the Swedishversion of American Idol. Never heard of her again but sure liked 'this' song!
Great song, fabulous production. Haven’t heard it for years, now it’s in my RP favorites!
Vocal quality not unlike Adele here.
"They will hurt you, and desert you"...tip of the hat to James Taylor, or coincidence?
she kissed me in the happy land

Is it true that Sweden has more pop stars/musicians per capita than any other country? Sure seems that way. Solid tune.

In 2011 the nation of 9.5m (Sweden) produced music exports worth more than $150m (according to Swedish industry estimates) – the largest per capita in the world.

That number is based on sales; I couldn't find any stats on just percentage of population.

after a few years memory lapse I suddenly remembered number 3:

I believe Iceland takes that crown, and rather handily too.

Sounds purposely moody to be a TV soundtrack. Good.

delicious
Her best attribute: she reminds me of Daenerys Targaryen.

First heard the original mix of this song as part of a swatch commercial. Awesome Song, Awesome commercial:

I take exception to anyone comparing this little snip to Melody Gardot.  It is not for nothing that she has exactly one song on RP.  Listen to a few other tracks.  She has her Adele-like songs, some Anna Ternheim-like songs,  even one like Slimey Virus (er, I mean Miley Cyrus) .  Great mimic, but time will tell if anyone's home.

¡¡¡  Then read a Melody Gardot bio.  !!!    Now that is somebody.

Oh John Henry, swing that big hammer and kiss me in my Happy Land. Or perhaps I misheard the lyrics.

Interesting vocals. Belies the cover.
For good or bad, the cover art makes me think of Paris Hilton.

No doubt you prefer production line voices they create in Hollywood. Unique voices are what make them stand out. This Artist is a definate stand out for me. Perhaps turn on your local FM station. Im certain the play list will be more to your liking.
Big hit in sweden.

But with double bpm than this remix.
The only thing I want mixed into this master is replacing the tambourine with the ragged "clink" of a chain gang taking a step together, and adding a hammer/anvil for some of the down beats.
Adele-type voices are just NOT my cup of tea.
She sounds a bit like both of them (Adele and Johnette), really...and it seems good...  Sure, gals from Sweden can really sing and make the scene, indeed!

Somebody's gotta upload more than just this song. Happyland is a solid album - especially "Greetings from Space", "Autopilot" and "Borderline."

buahahaha. i had to check to make sure she wasn't asking me to kiss her in her happy place.
Her voice hurts my ears for some reason.

Priceless

Many years ago this would have been Melanie singing.
Do the underwater boys live in Happyland?
She does have a great voice. Unfortunately, the record companies find one person that makes it big and sells a lot of albums, then they go out and find a ton of other singers/musicians just like it to hop on the bandwagon and sell, sell, sell, while it's hot. So the sound gets old quick.

Interesting that this Adele and Florence-and-the-Machine style of singing is becoming such a large part of RP and popular radio. There's a song in this style at least every hour from several different of singers. I must be too autistic to enjoy it, though. The frenzied, set-it-at-11 voice, when it goes on through the whole song, sets my teeth on edge.

I think this song's pretty good - sort of a cool, gloomy, minor-key groove, but I know what you mean about the "big" voices being popular at present.  However, look back over the comments or reviews for other female singers.  Look at all the complaints about wispy-voiced singers, nasal singers, breathy singers, singers using Auto-tune, etc.  Some people can always find a reason to complain.

Yeah, from what I can tell, the rest of it is somewhat poppy.  The original cut of this is still dark, but at lot faster of tempo and sounds louder and more full.  It isn't bad, but this is the better version I think.

Nice work! I went to iTunes and got the album. Talk about instant gratification

She´s swedish like Anna Ternheim, Zophie Zellmani, Ebba Forsberg, Lykke-Li, the girls in First Aid Kit and Ane Brun. Sorry she´s norwegian but lives in Sweden. I think the girls are doing quite well here up in the nortth.

Norwegians, Swedes, Danes - Vikings all :o). I'm just glad that you've all moved on from hairy-arsed horned-helmet warriors raiding and pillaging to sweet women singers. Better Amanda Jenssen and Anna Ternheim than Erik the Red and Thorfinn Skull-splitter ;-)

Just playing with stereotypes, Scandinavians, honest :o). I love your singers, and indeed your rock groups (Kent, Madrugada, etc), and long may RP's 'discovery' (for us non-Vikings) of Scandinavian music continue. Amanda Jenssen might be a Swedish Adele, but that's no bad thing - she's certainly got one big, brassy voice, and the deep bass background singing really makes this song stand out. 9 from the Scandophile (is that a word?) Nottingham jury.

Wow.
This song GRABS me every time it comes on.

Her voice is incredible, but the big echoey church-like production is awesome as well.
I 3> you, Adele.

At least it's just good music and great voices.
Doesn't matter if it's Adele, Florence or Amanda Jenssen.
They're all a more "couple of years" in this business but not necessarily notifiable by anyone.

So this is a good "more" of nice bands and singers.
It took a quite while for those – in this case: female singers – to get some attention.
But hey – i like it… and not of this: "style of singing".

The consequence of it: it's the feeling of listening to their songs; the music, the songs storys and the voice, who's telling it.

Nope – Amanda Jenssen is the winning one from the swedish "pop idol".
Imho the one and only "voice" it's really worth listen to.
Her voice is simple awesome – doesn't matter which song she's singing.

Hope that she'll go her way and catch just more than "only some positiv critics" worlwide.
'Cause this music is kind of overflowing and always it'll get you in some mood…
:)

Damn - very, very nice! Great voice and nice musical flow. Love it!
Oh my, spooky or what? I'm immediately thinking of Southern Gothic. An immediate 8 from the spooked Nottingham jury.

Another Swede, Bill? You are spoiling us with these Scandinavians :o)
