As you promised me that I was more than all the miles combined
You must have had yourself a change of heart like halfway through the drive
Because your voice trailed off exactly as you passed my exit sign
Kept on driving straight and left our future to the right
Now I am stuck between my anger and the blame that I can't face
And memories are something even smoking weed does not replace
And I am terrified of weather 'cause I see you when it rains
And doc told me to travel but there's COVID on the planes
And I, love Vermont, but it's the season of the sticks
And I, saw your mom, she forgot that I existed
And it's, half my fault but I just like to play the victim
I'll drink alcohol 'til my friends come home for Christmas
And I'll, dream each night of some version of you
That I, might not have but I did not lose
Now you're tire tracks and one pair of shoes
And I'm split in half but that'll have to do
So I thought that if I piled something good on all my bad
That I could cancel out the darkness I inherited from dad
No and I'm no longer funny but I miss the way you laugh
You once called me forever now you still can't call me back
And I, love Vermont, but it's the season of the sticks
And I, saw your mom, she forgot that I existed
And it's half my fault but I just like to play the victim
I'll drink alcohol 'til my friends come home for Christmas
And I'll, dream each night of some version of you
That I, might not have but I did not lose
Now you're tire tracks and one pair of shoes
And I'm split in half but that'll have to do
Oh that'll have to do
My other half was you
I hope this pain's just passing through
But I doubt it
And I, love Vermont, but it's the season of the sticks
And I, saw your mom, she forgot that I existed
And it's half my fault but I just like to play the victim

Have to do

Some may say this will date the song, but I'm thankful for any acknowledgement of these bonkers times we're living in. Supposed health care "professionals" telling you to get sick all the time, because otherwise you're not "normal", SMH.

I keep hearing: “I just like to play the victim of Drake”

Sub 6.5 on this track? We're a damn fickle bunch, aren't we?

Great find. Very cool dogs.
Is this the first time Covid has been referred to specifically by name in a (somewhat) well known song?
It's strange how something with such a profound effect on society has been mostly ignored in popular music.

The "C" word caught my ear too, though personally I've been listening to a lot more "Rage Against The Machine" than normal over the last few years.
This one almost gets an 8, just not ready for it to play in My Favorites yet, so 7 for now. I do like this "breakup" song and I'm SO lucky to not need one of those types of songs in my life anymore!
Long Live Radio Paradise!!
I'm glad we're starting to hear pandemic-related songs on RP. I don't think we've come to terms collectively with the trauma of the last few years. Hopefully the arts can help... I know I could use it!

It's... late September. You like Elaine in Almost Famous celebrating Christmas on a
day in September when you knew it wouldn't be "commercialized"?
If you asked for this for Christmas, thanks! It's a new musician for me.
Noah on RP?! A Christmas Miracle.

Love this one... And there is a really cool Song Exploder pod that talks about how this song came about, worth a listen to be sure.

My 17 y/o daughter is all about this guy. Nice that RP keeps me up to speed.
For me, just hearing the the name of that event is still quit triggering / traumatic, so I am extremely happy that it was mostly ignored in popular music.
Thanks a lot to RP for the music in the past 4+ years, it helped me to go through that horrible time.
