GREAT TUNE!!  Thanx RP!
I love this tune. Wish FM radio would play it as much as other Santana.
The live version got so much vibe in it. Long live RP!

from the Wiki.

The album is one of the best-selling albums in the world, and has sold over 30 million copies worldwide,[2] with 11.8 million copies sold in the United States alone.[7] It is the best-selling album by a Hispanic artist,[8] peaking at number one in many countries.

According to the Guinness World Records in 2005, it was the band's first album to peak at number one on the Billboard 200 since Santana III in 1971, making it the longest gap between two number one albums, 28 years in total.[8] The album debuted at number 19 on the US Billboard 200 and eventually peaked at number one in October 1999, selling 169,000 copies that week, it would increase its sales even more in the following weeks, selling 183,000 and 199,000 on its first three weeks atop. Its highest sale came in year's final week when it sold 527,000 copies. Its sales would still stay in stratosphere after the Holiday season, selling 583,000 copies after winning nine Grammy Awards in a night, it barely dropped in sales, selling again another monstrous 441,000 copies. Its last of 12 non-consecutive weeks at number one would still see huge sales, 307,000 copies that week, it later was replaced by NSYNC No Strings Attached after selling 2.4 million copies in a week. It also debuted and peaked at number one on the Billboard Top Latin Albums chart.[9] However, it was removed from the chart the following week after Billboard determined that the album did not meet the linguistic requirement of having at least 50% of its tracks recorded in Spanish.[10] It was ranked on Billboard's top 200 albums of the decade as the ninth best-selling album of the 2000s.[11]

In Australia, the album debuted at number 48 and would peak at number one on March 6, 2000. In the UK, the album peaked at number one for two weeks starting on April 1, 2000.

The track "El Farol" was criticised by unauthorized use of melody. The song takes it structure of "Papel Principal", a song made by the Portuguese artist Adelaide Ferreira. Although never confirmed, the rumor of a possible judicial action by the Portuguese singer was never surpassed.[12]

la migra. Be quiet, guys; the border patrol is coming. immigration police.

Is it considered bad form to make a phone call in medias res?
Badass Rock Guitar!  Oye como va!
I wanna hear Born In East LA!
Following this with an Entrain song would be great!
This is excellent. Timely too, considering what I just read in the news.
Give that guy a wah-wah pedal - oh wait, he already has one!

If that's what you've heard. But I know I've heard all of his tracks (Cry of the Wilderness, anyone? America.  Flame/Sky. Once It's Gotcha. Transcendence...and many others) which given your skeptical view is probably many more than you. And I can assure you they are not the "same riff".
LAMEST Santana song ever
killer tone alright......
"Migra, migra
pinche migra
déjame en paz"

Really? They ran out of ideas when they wrote this song, I guess ... {#Devil_pimp}

I haven't heard this one before - had to check to see which album it was from. Kinda surprised it's "Supernatural" since it's about 1000 times better than every other song I've heard off that album.

Santana has some killer guitar tone here, and he's one of those guitarists (as opposed to someone like Keith Richards) who actually gets better the more he plays. Same licks as always? Maybe, but they sure as hell are executed a lot better and are used in the right places now. Just listen to his debut album, then something like this - it shows his growth as a musician and guitarist. Sweet stuff.

For years he played a Gibson SG—almost to the exclusion of anything else. Now he plays custom built Paul Reed Smith guitars. His signature tone, honed with the SG, has gotten fatter and hotter with the PRS...and of course a significant pedal array. {#Lol}

¡Chispas! Oye como va - mi ritmo
ummmm ... OH!  So this is why people like Santana so much {#Redface} I never really got it before (probably just heard the pop-ish songs of his on hit radio), but this is incredible.

Now THAT is some good gee-tar playin !
Holy wow. No wonder this album is called "Supernatural"!  This is great. I'd never heard it before, but I love it. Guessing it'll be one of those songs I crank up loud and dance through the house to on a rainy day.  Yum.

Not one of their better songs.

I like this pretty much.
I'm going to have to check out the original that billybob referenced.

Check out the original of this song, by Rachid Taha, called Kelma from the album "Ole Ole".  I don't know what language it's sung in, but it's good!  I don't mind the Santana version so much, but I like Rachid's better.

WYLD Stallyon!

well, I finally found a Santana song I like.  Nice!
I'll take this any day over the Manu Chao that played before this. (I like some of Manu Chao's stuff, just not Desaparecidio.) This at least rocks, and yes, Carlos is still playing some of the same licks he always has. Why mess with a good thing?

he's livin off new blood, tryin' to hang on.........

Actually, Carlos is NOT trying to live off new blood. Almost 2 decades ago, Carlos began touring as a double bill with several fantastic artists that were VERY different from his style. He did this to celebrate the talent and variety of as many artists as possible, I saw Carlos tour with Bob Dylan, Jeff Beck, and Buddy Guy to name a few. He then began songwriting collaborations and duets. You need to check out "The Healer" with John Lee Hooker. Obviously the new spark with Rob Thomas, Sara Mclachlan, and other new blood has been a huge commercial success for the last 2 albums. But did you know Eric Clapton played on one of those?  All this to say that it is Carlos Santana's vision of diversity to drive these collaborations, not desparation.

And BTW, this song was the Santana band, no new blood at all. I thought the horns were fresh in comparison to most Santana instrumentation.

get a lil tired of people ragging the "old" dude, whole album had some great stuff on it and carlos can play the guitar, alot of people have done collaborations and this was a very succesfull one, as far as anybody wanting to leave their countries for a better life I don't blame them, I live in Texas and have allways understood why they want to leave poverty and come here, its our government that has been lax on illegal immigrants, allways has been against the law but companies like cheap labor , they are the ones that should be punished   rock on Carlos

You can likely take it more than one way, but you should clean up your own country before you comment on ours.

Have a nice revolution.  Juarez lives (or we wish he had).

Flag alert! Flag alert! The flags are coming out! Duck!

(By the way, the Mexican Revolution, in its initial phase beginning November 20th 1910, marked the end of Porfirio Díaz's presidency, not Juárez's. President Benito Juárez died of natural causes in 1872, 38 years before the Revolution.)

Santana never was one for subtlety. Pinche migra indeed. Brilliant!
Okay, so he plays guitar. I get it. Pass. I'm Santana'd out.
He's reached a new low in my book
Pinche migra, me necesitas tú a mí más que yo a tí
The guitar just saws this song into pieces... a bit too dominant for me ;)
A long \"5\", but still a 5.
Salsa Meets Bo Diddley! :D
Good song, but quickly becoming overplayed.
I thought this was a great one, too! The CD as a whole is, well, Supernatural! I found the tracks radio didn\'t play tended to be more to my liking (although \"Smooth\" IS a great song, & was tres cool to see Carlos come back in such a big way (12 weeks on top of the pop chart for a rock song? unheard of in this day and age)! And I still dig it! I may have been tired of it in the past, but I think I may have heard it twice in the past 12 months!

I feel doubly good listening to this now.

Actually what he's talking about is the INS. Migra is a spanish slang for the the word 'immigration'. The song gets no air play here on local stations because of what they're saying in spanish (swearing). It is a great song though.
Its the first Santana song I\'ve heard that I like. The percussion and brass keep it moving. The bass guitar in the background makes it funky. Most of his songs need the extra elements that this song provides.
Oh!

from \"santana\" in 1969 and \"abraxas\" in 1970 to \"supernatural\" in 1999, carlos has been a consumate musician, and now is a leader for a worthy cause with the Milagro Foundation.

seriously kickass. Supernatural has a lot of good stuff on it besides Smooth (which would still be good if it wasn\'t so overplayed).
