Hear what I have to say
Just like children sleepin'
We could dream this night away.
But there's a full moon risin'
Let's go dancin' in the light
We know where the music's playin'
Let's go out and feel the night.
Because I'm still in love with you
I wanna see you dance again
Because I'm still in love with you
On this harvest moon.
When we were strangers
I watched you from afar
When we were lovers
I loved you with all my heart.
But now it's gettin' late
And the moon is climbin' high
I want to celebrate
See it shinin' in your eye.
Because I'm still in love with you
I wanna see you dance again
Because I'm still in love with you
On this harvest moon.
Honestly, I should really love this song, but there's just something about the way he sings that I can't stand. Which is funny because I like Bob Dylan and Tom Waits.
Maybe try the Mavericks cover; you might like Raul's vocals. IMHO they did an excellent version of this lovely song.
I was in journalism school with Scott Young, Neil's cousin who was named after Neil's dad. Scott got us all-areas pass for Neil's show in Toronto in 1987. Spent the post-show night with Neil and his family at the Four Seasons Hotel. It was clear that Neil knows everything about the technical side of playing and recording...and then some.
A friend worked for Neil and Peg. Nicest people in the world and amazing parents.
I danced to this with my daughter at her wedding 20 yrs ago. Two grandchildren later it still touches me whenever I hear it. First saw Neil in Yorkville in Toronto in the 60s. He has aged well.
My daughter just turned 18. You got me crying thinking about the possibility of dancing with her at her wedding in a few years. She was a 5 year old girl just the other day.
This would be a good song for dancing with your daughter at her wedding though. We'll see if I can remember when the time comes.
one of the last songs to play... wondering how far his hand was going to travel...
... and then the lights came on.
Can we get the Andrew Bird cover of this (or probably any cover, really)? It's a beautiful song, but good lord I just can't take Neil's squealing.
Cassandra Wilson does a sublime version
Don't judge when you can't possibly know all sides to the story. We humans are complex and live complicated lives.
Happened to see this video a few nights back on Sky Arts - a UK director shot a number of NY Videos and each so different - still one of my very favourite love songs
She just recently waltzed her way up to Heaven - I hope she is dancing and smiling. Girl needs some Peace... <3
I guess Neil has every right to do what he wants to do, but I must admit it has tainted this song for me too.
He's only human, right?
and what about HARVEST, one of the best album ,ever !?

Thanks for the link. It made me happy.
You hide under the bed much?
I loved dancing to this with her, every time. It always takes me back:
slow, slow, quick, quick, quick...
I remember:
I was recently separated, devastated, eviscerated.
In her beach chair, I saw her peering at me over top of her sunglasses, and her sky-blue eyes had me hooked.
To be fair, it was all due to her 6-year old daughter being mesmerized by my 7-year old identical (at the time) twin boys. So fascinated was she by the duplicate boys (so she thought at that age), she had to drag them (and me) back to her mom to show her this wonder of the world.
That led to church basement Saturday night dances for single parents. She taught me to just let go, feel the music and allow my body to follow its natural inclination to move to a beat.
Man, did that ever become fun on the dance floor, and off... ;-)
Indeed.
I second that emotion.
You hide under the bed much?
Quite right.
I'm envious!

RIP ahhh the power of music.

And that, my friend, is a true definition of love ain't it? Hoping they're happy regardless?
Unless it's August.
:-) nice.
Together with James Taylor and Linda Ronstadt as back-up and instrumentalised
by Stray gators. But not so depressiv and uncertain.
Beautiful love songs as Neil said a "femal" album...
Thank YOU !!
Harvest moon is the first name, I guess 9th is the surname.
Sounds like a supersituation being dressed in pink costumes before baby is due
I imagine BigDaddy dancing to this song and start to wonder, is she your wife of 26 years or for 26 years?
Better to burn out than...
Agree!
done by an actual broom!
Five stars and a 10 plus for this song. Thanks RP
RP does this to me sometime.
Great song. A well deserved 9 for me.
Well said, John!
Love this - esp the first track of the album "unknown legend". Just awesome.
