A cutie is in the eye of the beholder. I find nothing "cute" about Tina. Never did and now the less. Not her fault and I do not really want to talk about the looks of anybody. you are right: I should not have been that...?...."racist" about Japanese. That was stupid and not appropiate, I admit. Still - all Japanese I meet during my travels have been rather weird, to say the least - one way or the other. Maybe simply because they are rather different from us. Intellectually they cannot be stupid, of course - don't get me wrong. I did not mean that! What I meant instead was..., possibly nothing but a cheap comment with no other foundation than my few own experiences with them. Just being an idiot myself, if you want...!
Still - the appliances in my appartment - not that I care too much - are usually of German origin. Were they Japanese, they were most likely German knock-offs. The same the Chinese are doing now, the Japanese did in the 60's and 70's. "Stealing" German techMology (to say it with "Borat"), then sell it as their own!
Once I had a Japs girlfriend (for a few weeks): The noises she made during sex were so....,funny (to say the least) that I always have to smile, when I seeing or heaing anything Japanese today. Not just that - she was such a weirdo, so different, she stunned me every single day with her XXXXXXXTREME naivity and ways!. Recalling this episode, I am still inclined to repeat: Yes, the Japs are weird - not only during sex.
Talking Heads...? Yes, I admit it: I have various TH (vinyl) albums myself - at least 3 or 4 early ones. And yes, I liked the band during that time - early 70's and several years on. The more advanced I got in music, the longer theTH's. big-time passed, the less I liked them. I do not think that anybody disagrees that David Byrne cannot sing. Still that's not my main reason, since other singers cannot sing neither, though I still like them. Still - the way BYRNE sings is a total annoyance to me today, some 30 years after the Heads' main times. When I hear them nowadays - only on RP, since I would NEVER dare to put them on myself - I am usually close to swtich them off. I simply cannot stand his singing, neither the lyrics and all the simple rest. Like Pink Floyd and Leonard Cohen they are my most beloved "HATE"-object, to say the least! No, sorry, time hasn't done any good to the Talking Heads, if you ask me!

The older I get, the more David Byrne's voice gets on my nerves.
I thought this was Ganggajang at first but its nothing like them. However looking at who it is I realise the trick my brain fell into. I had a rather awesome cassette I played to death in my walkman with Ganggajang's self titled first release (a must for all lovers of good aussie music) on one side and Talking Heads Little Creatures on the other.
I totally understand this song. . . being as I am happy to take my kit off in public.

Awesome memories: a similarly bent Brit named Mike R. and I were driving a little Suzuki Jimny 4WD all over Bali for the first time, Christmas Eve of '88 through New Year's '89, and this was one of a few very key albums we had on tape, and this was perfect played loudly as we drove through fruit-laden jungle down village paths, dodging cows and minibus bemos whose betel-chewing crews and passengers were busy tying down chickens, goats and pigs, zooming past topless local women with cargo on their heads, both of us high as kites on the exotic fragrances and flavors of cloves, cinnamon, coffee, and MUSIC.
The CD cover reminds me of a newly-established brewery just outside Nottingham called Blue Monkey, which does some excellent cask ales:

This seems like a good place for what's been on my mind for a while after a few months of reading comments. Why do people get so worked up about something as harmless as a song?
And if the station or the selection is so annoying, then why waste time and energy hanging in here and writing hateful stuff? Sheesh.. there are literally THOUSANDS of internet radio stations out there. Heck, some of my best friends listen to other stations!
One of them, in fact, asked me in earnest the other day to give Secret Agent a try. I did. Some of the play list is good. Eventually I found I didn't like it as much, and came back here. Easy.
Never occurred to me to find a way to write about how annoying of boring I found SA's selection. I dunno... Just don't get some people...

I saw him a couple of weeks ago. His voice is amazingly good and I really liked his new things, as well as most of the older. Being in Memphis, he brought the house down with "Take Me to the River"!!
Or get a DVD of Stop Making Sense. Great performance movie that lists Jonathan Demme as director.

Quite untrue. There are many worse voices out there. Neil Young comes to mind. You must have an allergy to be having such a severe and irrational reaction. (BTW: I love Neil, and he uses his voice very well.) no doubt they are talented, but I just cannot bear it. radio went mute for a couple minutes.
This tune is nice. Sounds like the singer has perfect pitch. Or at least his overdubs do.

I liked this then, it was new a different, now it just seems dated and not in a good way.
This seems like a good place for what's been on my mind for a while after a few months of reading comments.
Why do people get so worked up about something as harmless as a song?
And if the station or the selection is so annoying, then why waste time and energy hanging in here and writing hateful stuff?
Sheesh.. there are literally THOUSANDS of internet radio stations out there. Heck, some of my best friends listen to other stations!
One of them, in fact, asked me in earnest the other day to give Secret Agent a try. I did. Some of the play list is good. Eventually I found I didn't like it as much, and came back here. Easy.
Never occurred to me to find a way to write about how annoying of boring I found SA's selection.

As to the music: This is a great album. David Byrne is a genius no matter what genre he's inventing.

i would add that they are equally good in different ways, much like the progression of REMs albums....

After 12 years in the UK I'm accustomed to more intelligent discourse, even if it gets far more biting than the comments above and below. Back to the topic at hand...I find several TH songs to be mind blowing. For the most part tho, I find Byrne's voice affected and just occasionally repugnant.
This is a great TH's tune...eclectic,poppy, happy, genius.

This is a great song with a nicely uderstated enviromentalist twist. The music is dancable too.
Remain in light is the only album I like better!!!

to. 8 normally + 2 because Talking Heads are one of the greatest bands ever there are only like two songs I dont crave.
