And we know what we're knowing, but we can't say what we've seen
And we're not little children, and we know what we want
And the future is certain, give us time to work it out
Yeah
We're on a road to nowhere, come on inside
We'll take that ride to nowhere, we'll take that ride
Feeling okay this morning, and you know
We're on a road to paradise, here we go, here we go
We're on a ride to nowhere, come on inside
Taking that ride to nowhere, we'll take that ride
Maybe you'll wonder where you are, I don't care
Even when time is on our side, take you there, take you there
We're on a road to nowhere, ha, ha
We're on a road to nowhere, ha, ha
We're on a road to nowhere, ha, ha, whoo
There's a city in my mind, come along and take that ride, and it's all right, baby, it's all right
And it's very far away, but it's growing day by day, and it's all right, baby, it's all right
Would you like to come along, you can help me sing this song, and it's all right, baby, it's all right
They can tell you what to do, but they'll make a fool of you, and it's all right, baby, it's all right

Yeah, would you like to come along, you can help me sing this song, and it's all right, baby, it's all right
They can tell you what to do, oh, God, they'll make a fool of you, and it's all right, baby, it's all right
We're on a road to nowhere, hey
We're on a road to nowhere, ha
We're on a road to nowhere, ha, ha

Ahh it's our wedding song.
Turned out to be my marriage song.
So we divorced.........................
Sorry Bill and TH fans, no offence nor a plead against this song but i.m.o. TH en David Byrne are a bit overplayed
that's putting it mildly. i switched from the main mix to the rock mix for this reason (well, one example as to why) and it's the same problem on the rock mix.
but, i agree with you - 9 months later, same thing still going on.

Hey, it could be worse. You could be listening to Sigur Ros or (way overplayed here) Radiohead.
great album but hearing it just reminds me that the band was in rapid decay by this point. not musically, but as a group they were about done with each other. as much fun as the album is, it just puts me in a funk.
It definitely felt like a step down from the previous albums at the time. The beginning of the end.
We love, love, love Radio Paradise - except for one thing; the Talking Heads. Way, way, way too much overplay on this band. Sorry, I like them, but it seems like they are the most-played group by a country mile. Also, can we get the occasional mega-hits from Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, and AC/DC every so often to balance out the “art rock”?
Same goes to REM
Ahh it's our wedding song.
Too funny

Actually, they rank #13 on the amount of plays on RP. Look it up!

lol 2900 ratings and average 7.6 hmm in the minority again GH lol your consistent
any TH effort gets me hitting mute or next in a split second. The Who have the same effect.
As long as we're clear where we all stand on the music-liking spectrum.
...for all (because?) he's adored by the arty middle classes.
Who exactly are "the arty middle classes"?
Congress can't agree on how to spend 2 trillion dollars to keep 350million citizens afloat. Were running out of all kinds of paper products - paper towels, toilet paper, surgical masks and gowns. This song just seemed totally appropriate for the moment.
Make that 349 million.
Pink grapefruit juice and Gin.
Appalachian Mnts from Va through NC and TENN.
Man she was hot!
two weeks of drunken passion.
Dear EssexTex,
I apologize for taking eleven years to respond. Regarding your inquiry: no, the tracks seem fine to me.
All the best,

I was just thinking the same thing.
My guess is you're just a Turn, Turn Turn kind of guy.

True, so true willmcnaught. But my journey is blissful as I believe in better living through narcotics. Actually today this sounds better

I'm gone now, it's Saturday nite, lets rock and stop pretending we are
I'LL TAKE YOUR SPOT!
Brings back great memories of folding shirts & pants into perfect geometric shapes
FYT again.
Doesn't it suck when somebody changes your words that way?
For some people TH seems to be an acquired taste. So keep trying and one day you too will see the light of Heaven (which is a great TH-song as well).
Hear the Cajun Zydeco in there. It's their "Americana" phase LOL. Check out the artist that did the cover. Interesting "outsider" artist.
Nearly 2 years later, so am I.
And 4 years later, so am I
Just gorgeous.

Insta-PSD to The Moody Blues — Tuesday Afternoon
As a kid I found a cassette on the street and there was lots of music on it I had never heard before. This was - among other great 80s stuff like Kate Bush's “Running up the Hill“ - one of the songs on it and I never knew who the band was, because the tape wasn't labeled. That was before MTV or the internet so my only source for music and info was the radio. That tape was a real treasure.
Ah, happy memories …
the only "Talking Heads" i can bear, but this one i like it ...
a lot
i wonder if TH is not a good illustration of "love or hate" group
Neat book, neat guy.
I was just thinking the same thing.
You certainly are....
Follow this up with the Road to Hell by Chris Rea
Don't play Chris Rea ever!
Follow this up with the Road to Hell by Chris Rea
Well said. Applies to a lot of us, I'm sure.........
Geez - I guess I really AM getting old.
I loved them the first time i heard them...Providence RI in the early 80's. So different, so smart, & yes I love the snarkiness as well
Funny...I completely agree with you about both artists
Haterz gots ta hate, but this is a nugget of joy.
However, gave it a 6, since I know I am in the minority and probably should get them....BUT I DON'T!!!
Don't be shy! I gave it a 4.
I admire the chutzpah of a guy making a success of such a hideous voice, and I really like the group's rhythms, but Talking Heads snapped up fresh new shelf space at a time when the listening public was stampeding in horror away from Barry Manilow. Who could NOT sound good after THAT!

Geez - I guess I really AM getting old.
It took me one song - Psycho Killer - on the Max's Kansas City jukebox in 1977 to appreciate TH.
You're a late bloomer - what can I say. But welcome.
Nearly 2 years later, so am I.
Much happier now and I still love this song.

Souvenir Foto assignment No. 7: Forced perspective & Faux tilt shift
I was out in Folsom briefly on Sunday to take my cats to the vet, and since it's not far from nowhere, I drove around looking for a shot that I could faux tilt shit and this seemed to fit the bill. I had fun with the program, and would like to play around with it a lttle more. I think it'll open my eyes to photo opportunities I may not have noticed otherwise.
I haven't been feeling too great this week, so I haven't had a chance to get out to take any other photos. I'm really hoping to be able to capture a forced perspective shot today before the deadline, but even if I don't, my interest in forced perspective has been piqued enough that I'll be doing one very soon, even if it can't be for the group. :)

Funny, I just killed the volume too. Guess this isn't to everyone's taste.
Same here...
I was in Jr. High when my brother brought this album home. It was accepted that it was the Latest Album by a Very Great Band that has done Many Other Things that I hadn't heard of yet but Should. I Did. and I'm Glad.

Why? I'm just curious. Send a PM if you don't feel comfortable posting publicly....

Their lyrics may or may not be intelligent/profound or they may just be silly - I'll never know because I can't get past David Byrne's terribly annoying voice. And since I can't really stand the tune or melody, that doesn't really leave anything. Amazing how people's musical tastes diverge.
I like this song very much, and radioparadise for playing them
Oh and I love Thom York, you know the guy some others seem to call the mumbling guy. 'must be a question of wavelength and tuning sensors. I love diversity and the montypython
happy new year (here 30cm of snow!)
