Twenty-nine pearls in your kiss
A singing smile
Coffee smell and lilac skin
Your flame in me

Twenty-nine pearls in your kiss
A singing smile
Coffee smell and lilac skin
Your flame in me

I'm only here for this moment

I know everybody here wants you
I know everybody here thinks he needs you
I'll be waiting right here just to show you
How our love will blow it all away

Hmm, such a thing of wonder in this crowd
I'm a stranger in this town
You're free with me
And our eyes locked in downcast love
I sit here proud
Even now you're undressed in your dreams with me

Oh, I'm only here for this moment

I know everybody here wants you
I know everybody here thinks he needs you
I'll be waiting right here just to show you
How our love will blow it all away

I know the tears we cried
Have dried on yesterday
The sea of fools has parted for us
There's nothing in our way
My love

Don't you see, don't you see?
You're just the torch to put the flame to all our guilt and shame
And I'll rise like an ember in your name

I know I, I know I
I know everybody here wants you
I know everybody here thinks he needs you
I'll be waiting right here just to show you
Oh let me show you
That love can rise, rise just like embers

Love can taste like the wine of the ages, oh babe,
And I know they all looks so good from a distance
But I tell you I'm the one

I know everybody here, well, thinks he needs you
Think he needs you
And I'll be waiting right here just to show you

looks like since your comment, it hasn't been played in 13 years until hearing it today on the "My Favorites" mix...

i sure wish the powers that be would make new "main mixes" and put back on some of these kinds of gems. they really should just look at all that are on my "my favorites" and assume they haven't been played in x number of years and put them back in play.

This just sucks so bad it hurts!
Sublime!
Huh? Did my dial get changed without me knowing it - is this KISS (my ass) 109.2 warm and fuzzy... crap?
Horrible, terrible, no-good, very bad singing, from his atonal low range to his atrocious "soul"-type falsetto. Is he a white guy trying to sound black? I just want to strangle him and retroactively gag him. A true torture. All it lacked was horns.
To be honest, at first I was a little wary of this track since it seems a bit more "common" than Jeff's usual stylings, but eventually his straight-up honest and pained delivery won me over in time. Now it's one of my favorites from Sketches. I love how he keeps it stripped-down throughout, even when there are instrumentation and vocal changes. And even when it changes moods, there's this thread of elegant sadness that permeates throughout the song's entirety. Jeff never breaks that to wow you with empty vocal skills as so many contemporary artists would in a song that so heavily features the voice.
Ani, Over the Rhine, Dylan, Radiohead, Cat Power and now this song. What a run. Radio Paradise, oh how I love thee. This song gives me chills everytime. Thank You!! Thank You!! Thank You!!
Bill, what about "What would you say?" from Jeff?
the best
What can I say, a beautiful song
There is a local artist here in Austin who does an great cover of this song. I wish she would hump my leg. (Just Kidding) Yes Please, more Jeff.

I kind of like Jeff Buckley, but good Lord. This sounds like a song Prince would hump your leg to.

It's even funnier for me because my aunt and uncle had a dog named Prince. :2dancingbananas: Good song, but not Jeff's best.
Ok, now I\'m embarrassed. I HAVE this album and hadn\'t heard this track. Very different from Grace. *sigh* I miss Jeff.

Take me to heaven
This song is simply brilliant.
I second that emotion.
