Don't you know that I'll be around to guide you.
Through your weakest moments to leave them behind you.
Returning nightmares, only shadows.
We'll cast some light and you'll be alright.
We'll cast some light and you'll be alright for now.
Crosses all over, heavy on your shoulders.
The sirens inside me waiting to step forward.
Disturbing silence darkens your sight.
We'll cast some light and you'll be alright.
We'll cast some light and you'll be alright for now.
Crosses all over the boulevard.
Crosses all over the boulevard.
Crosses all over the boulevard.
Crosses all over the boulevard.
The streets outside your window overflooded.
People staring, they know you've been broken.
Repeatedly reminded by the looks on their faces.
Ignore them tonight and you'll be alright.

Bill you were the one to turn me onto Jose Gonzalez and his band Junip. Cannot thank you enough for introducing all of us to new artists whom I have not heard before. Thanks
Acoustic genius! I worship his consistently poetic, skillfully-wrought homage to Nick Drake. Thanks, RP, for turning me on to his stellar work!

Lyrically, this marvelous song is a warning to beware of evil poachers... it suggests an answer to the eternal question—
Why did the chicken cross the road?
To escape from the evil poacher...
and here all along ...
I thought the chicken was going to KFC

I didn't know Jeff Beck played this song in 1965 - thanks Bill!
This album was definitely my soundtrack to 2005 and 2006. To this day, I happily acknowledge the solace it gave me through a difficult period.
Nice surprice to hear this song here, I discovered it a while ago on the game Life is Strange
"Crossings, so long, the vols-au-vents"?! Nurse! My ear drops, please!

I'd bet. From the three or four songs I've heard here, there's not much dynamic to his guitar or vocal style.
I have attended a concert of JG while on holidays. For one and a half hour just him and his guitar. It was the most boring concert I have ever heard. All of his songs sounded alike.

OK, this one is pretty good.
Simply nice.
Definitely one of my favorite new singer/songrighters.
"Crossing, so long, the vol-au-vent" - wtf? Nurse - my ear-trumpet, please!
Jose kinda walks on water...successful solo career, Zero 7, Junip...and there is not ONE bad song...very cool
I love Jose !
Must say I have become totally hooked on Jose and Junip (now bought all albums) - amazing music! Thanks to RP!

Really? Try this link
Okay, he has no Wiki page—it was deleted in 2006. WTF? Also, can't find an AMG entry. It's like he doesn't exist.

JUNIP?
PS
oooh - obviously yes. Did not know!

Hearing the first few notes of this song made my heart skip a beat. Saw him play as part of Junip in Baltimore last year, amazing performance.
May someone buy him a voice so he doesn't feel obliged to systematically "double" it?
I have heard this song a lot since I have the CD and it always sounded like "crosshairs all over the boulevard" like a sniper was aiming at people. So finally I get to check on the actual lyrics and it is not so creepy as I thought.

Hadn't heard this before, though I enjoy the Zero 7 version. Delicate guitar work; nice.

Well done on another cut and paste comment. We all so love the care you give in splattering these all over RP.

Claro que si. Jose doing vocals on that version too.
Isn't this the same song but with other arrangements as in the Zero7 album "The Garden" ?

Similar doubled vocal style to Elliott Smith. Unfortunately the rest is not quite up to par as ES.
Kind of reminds me of Brian Protheroe's Pinball - a LOT ( a really good thing)
one of my absolute favs by Jose! :)
Meh...
Nice to listen to on a Friday night.
Please, play this song sometimes.
Thanks!
