John Belushi is floating up towards the ceiling right now..
I think this song was featured on Sesame Street.
i love this song, and the soundtrack as a matter of fact. one of my favorite parts is hearing Joe Morton sing at the end of the song and then later in the Eryka Badu song- Funky Nassau

Well I may be a softcore athiest... but I think booty shakin music is divine.

I absolutely love gospel music which is sort of ironic since I'm not religious but the vocals and the power and feeling behind them are contagious.
agreed, leslie. i love gospel, too. it was some of my favorite shit to sing in choir in highschool. despite the fact that i'm very anti-religion, you wouldn't know it when i'm belting out a tune about god. heh.

RP is the greatest. From Dave Brubeck to Dave Matthews, acoustic introspections to gospel shoutin,' we got it all right here. Can I hear an "amen?"
Aaaaaaaaaaahhhhmen!

I'm not loving this too much.

Amen to that.
I just can't hear gospel music anymore without hearing Eddie Izzard singing "Hah-leh-luuu-yah".
Just makes me want to put on my polyester suit and tap dance on the altar.
what is this the gospel hour?

Okay, no one shoot me for this, BUT I totally hear, in Sam Moore, where Terence Trent D'Arby got his soulful sound from. A good thing IMHO.

The band Gov't Mule does a great version of this tune.
I gotta look for Gov't Mule's version...Warren Haynes can really take songs to a new level.
Another awesome version of this is Trey Anastacio's live version with Carlos Santana (May 31, 2003 Warfield Theatre in SF. Write to me an maybe I can set you up!)..
For those of you who are raggin' against Gospel on RP, realize this is the roots of Blues and Jazz and hence Rock + Roll and hence everything that shows up on RP.
Thanks RP!

Agree. It'd be a boring station if it were limited to "progressive" eclectic. I think it's great that all genres of music are represented (granted, sometimes it doesn't work, like the reggae version of Little Feat's "Under the Radar.") Never ceases to astonish me that I can be listening to Kate Bush and the next song will be something like Johnny Cash or Dolly Parton. Damned near gives me whiplash, but I love it.
And anyway, Taj Mahal is just plain FUN - like Dr. John.

This is better than some of the moaning Radiohead that I endure. For sure RP will play stuff that you do not like, but that is no reason not to listen. That is what makes RP so great, exposure to all knids of music. :grouphug:

You gotta understand your Blues history. This is a Son House song, probably one of the first gospel blues recordings. An update like this this, that incorporates modern gospel choral harmonies, is carrying on the tradition. Dig it.
Finally another person that gets it. Well Bill gets it too or this would not be played.
LIGHTEN UP PEOPLE AND ENJOY THE DIVERSITY! This beats the hell out of some of the Middle Eastern music we've endured!
Lord have mercy! Amen.
God help us it's gospel.... ;)

Blues Brothers 2000? Did people actually see that movie? They made a soundtrack for it? How sad. Please, no more of these!
The soundtrack of that movie is it's one saving grace. There's some great stuff on there. Amen.

I suddenly feel like I'm at a revival rather than work.
Put your hand on the bible !!! We're sweating in here..
This song has an identity crisis
I have a version of this song, sung by Dave Matthews, with Carlos Santana on guitar. It's excellent. This is cool as well.
