Was that a knock on the tele's wooden ancestry or an alternative spelling of "timbre"?

I  Agree with her completely, if you spell timbre correctly!  He really "works" a Telecaster like nobody else!

I AGREE!! He got the best sounds & timber out of a Telecaster, that I've ever heard! I like the sound of Stratocasters, Les Pauls, & SG(s) better, a far as solid body electrics go!

I'd buy you a clue but I'm pretty sure you'd lose it in five minutes.

That, I find incredibly hard to believe.
I retract that statement as, I just HAD TO Google it! Sure enuff... started teaching JB when he was 11y.o.! Cool!!

I think Danny also taught Tom Principato. I know Tom and Danny released music together...

And, what are YOU good at?   Eh?
Whatever it may be, I'd find it highly unlikely (being the negative person he is) that it would even come close to DG's guitar abilities! RIP Mr. Gatton. Thank you for the enjoyment you left us with.

GREAT TUNE!!  If you don't like it, hit the "skip button" and spare us from your B.S.!

Love to hear you try the guitar blitz in any of  the bridges.  Take your cynicism back to Facebook, please.

Left unmentioned by Bill (and confirmed by the Google machine), that's Delbert McClinton doing the vocals. Good hearing Delbert on RP, even unidentified.

Del is identified on the accompanying text in the player...

Negative comment from a negative person. I am just pointing out the obvious. Would never miss it if I didn't read it.

I love RP too, but there was never any station anywhere as good as this. It takes what was once great about radio and sends it into orbit: diversity, things you've never heard before, information, commentary, the ability to skip or play at random. It makes my head spin how amazing this really is.

I Agree!!  ...except, back in the 60s & early 70s, sister stations, WNEW FM 102.7 (NYC) & WMMR FM 93.3 (Philly), really kicked ass! ...Those days are long gone!!
I´m about to have a heart attack...

This is why I listen to RP!!    It's what radio used to, and should still be!

Thanks.

It's called depression, Danny struggled with it all his adult life.

And probably as a teen too -but it would have been chalked up to 'growing pains' or something.
Holy cow!
His passing, and hearing his playing still makes my chest hurt. I loved his stuff with Robert Gordon. RIP.

It is sad, but is certainly not uncommon for brilliant musicians to take their own life or overindulge themselves to death. I'm sure in some cases the recording industry is complicit, but also, perhaps, the neural connections that provide such great talent are made at the sacrifice of connections that promote healthy lifestyle.

Look after the king of R n R please
Delbert!

Your opinion is your opinion, but this guitar player is PLAYIN' IT.

DamnSweet!  (love the version of this tune by Robbie Robertson and The Band on Last Waltz : )

This song reminds me that I didn't start liking RnR until 1961. Good guitar licks, Danny, just not my gig.
Danny Gatton was a phenomenal guitarist but wide acclaim always dodged him. A protege of Roy Buchanon, Danny Gatton was one truly hot guitarist in the 80's in the DC music scene. He had two bands (at the same time as I recall), he would alternate with rockabilly and jazz. Some of the best local live music I ever heard...in DC or elsewhere. Dig a bit at itunes and you'll find some good stuff. Good to hear some Danny Gatton on RP.
