RP introduced me to them. Now, I have EIGHT of their tunes on "My Favorites" list. That is why we come here! Thanx RP!
November 5, 2019: Just heard an NPR story about mellotrons, and it included Mr Medeski as a principal source.

Most of their stuff is rather enjoyable; this however, is downright annoying!

Oh, and this sounds like my house at the moment. I've just been acquired by a second cat, and Annie is not amused by the new feline.

What a band! Love this particular track.
Love the keyboard work!
Very groovy, except for the cat.
Saw them at the Clearwater Jazz Festival last fall. They put on an awesome show. Amazing how 3 people put out so much music.

This is why there is a rating function. make your rating, but you don't have to post unless you have something to say. And post away, who cares if other's don't like your posts?
Fun and adequately goofy! Hilarious and CREATIVE.
Cela fait du bien quand ça s'arrête !
Definitely digging MMW - keep it coming

Do electronic cats chase computer mice?
Would electronic chickens scratch electrical grounds?
Cracks me up every time I hear it. (Being that it's so rarely played). Scratch them kitties!

Yes, I completely agree! It sounds as if an electronic chicken meets an electronic cat to have a chat with each other.
what's that

or a personal opinion... MountainGirl, come down and get some air.
No, she's absolutely correct. Possessing a personal opinion is everyone's right, but it has nothing to do with the actual quality of the piece. Some people can recognize quality; many more just can't. There's a reason why the terms good taste and bad taste exist. Once again, if all opinions are equal, there is no baseline for quality, and then you have nothing.
I always pump up the volume for MMW. There's so much stuff in there that you won't appreciate unless you can hear it real nice...

Good lord. The appreciation of good music (jazz in this case) is understanding sounds that you may not fully comprehend, yet allow you to grow. What would have happened if Ray Charles allowed himself to be kept down when he first started out? What about Beethoven; many people detested the man - his music was deemed too provocative for his era. Handel was, at first, ridiculed for endeavoring to continue to write music, yet pushed on to create some of the greatest musical masterpieces in history.
The point is, choose your words and your critique of music wisely. Calling a piece of music "awful" is just plain personal arrogance.

I like the sound of fingernails on the blackboard and I like the sound of a good dialogue between members of the feline nation. You would probably appreciate it too but you obviously don't understand a thing they are saying; probably because of their thick, valley-girl accents.
Allow me to translate:
They are arguing over a bowl of skim milk. One claims that it tastes great while the other insists that it is less filling.
Keeping this in mind, perhaps you won't be "literally foced" to change to a different station next time.
SUCKO BARFO!
A little too discordant for me, but I can tell how it might come together for some folks. Interesting mixture, at least.

Cat haters, you mean. Cat lovers don't like the sounds of torturing cats.
The keyboards are the go. Focus your attention on that and you'll notice that the scratching actually rhymes with it in a weird sort of way.

Interesting, yes!
Purchase, NO WAY!
Yeah... pretty wild, but I like it.
I'm just in the right mood (about to leave work).
7!
This is off the first album I bought of MMW. I bought it without even knowing who they were, was told by a friend to check them out. Ahhh, memories.
all skate!
Definitely cats, and MC900 Foot Jesus. I kinda like it actually.
Pink Floyd has Several Species Of Small Furry Animals Gathered In A Cave And Groovy With A Pict.
Apparently, MM&W has Several Species Of Small Furry Animals Gathered In A Studio And Tortured With A Pick.
For the last time that's not a sample of fighting cats! Just go with the song already!
And yet it manages to stay above a 6 somehow....
Hmmmm....

I don't usually comment on songs I hate - but I have to say that hearing cats screech here is about as pleasant as hearing them at 2am under the house.
Were these guys kidnapped by aliens? Their music sounds like it.
dig that groove.
just friggin' diggit.
Obviously a concerted effort at something.
Thank you RP for exposing me to something new and beautiful yet old and timeless.
Sounds like 2 cats fighting to me.
Go back to 1974.
Mixin' and scratchin. Here, kitty kitty...
I love it.

I swear I hear a couple of cat fights in there, too. Now that's something, I gotta confess, I never thought I'd hear in a 'popular' tune. (There's some other noises in there that I can't identify...)
Unidentifiable noises: We usually don't hear cats being spun on a turntable
(sounded very tortured and unpleasant to my ears).
I didn't really have a chance to get into it once those sound effects kicked in.
Maybe next time it will sound different to me. But for now I feel traumatized.
