I never met a girl who makes me feel the way that you do
(You're alright)
Whenever I'm asked who makes my dreams real, I say that you do
(You're outta sight)
So fee fi, fo fum
Look out baby, 'cause here I come
Chorus:
And I'm bringing you a love that's true
So get ready, so get ready
I'm gonna try to make you love me too
So get ready, so get ready, 'cause here I come
(Get ready, 'cause here I come)
I'm on my way
(Get ready, 'cause here I come)
If you wanna play hide and seek with love, let me remind you
(It's alright)
Lovin' you're gonna miss, and the time it takes to find you
(It's outta sight)
So fiddley dee, fiddley dum
Look out baby, 'cause here I come
Chorus
(Get ready)
All my friends should want you too, I understand it
(Be alright)
I hope I get to you before they do, the way I planned it
(Be outta sight)
So twiddley dee, twiddley dum
Look out baby 'cause here I come
Chorus
(You're alright)

I saw the Temps at the Motown Review in '68. Good times.

Admire the cover art

One thing that has always bugged me about this song is the fact that they use "tweedely dee tweedetly dum"as a lyric simply because it rhymed with "here I come"'.

Evidently computer speakers are much better than AM car radio - I never caught the bass before!
Mr. David Ruffin and the Temptations. Motor City Motown Review - 1968. The best.
More of this please!

In a previous life in the British Merchant Marine we used to anchor for weeks off Norfolk Va. in late sixties/early seventies (best period of rock/heavy rock music ever imho!) waiting for a coal berth. One of the FM rock stations used to play the Rare Earth long version - 21 mins + every night at the same time very late. We used to gather in someone's cabin and smoke some of the very best weed from the Carribean most nights and blow our minds on this track. Still blows the Temps version out of the water! Happy days

What about - Fe Fi Fo Fum?
Bjork into the Temptations. -hehe- Only on Radio Paradise.
Yes.
A 100X better than bands like "Lunatic Wolf"
Is the wide margin of quality on RP a good thing or a bad thing?

Another song that I don’t want to hear from again
Almost zero 1 and 2 ratings! That's the first time I've noticed such a thing. Based on past ratings, I thought a significant minority of people hated any song, me included. Interesting its this song that fairs so well.
Hey Pedro. I couldn't agree more. Still spin the old chestnut every now and then. Rare Earth Live is one fantastic album! Thanks for the memories...

Sorry Pedro, Got half way through and had to quit - I guess if you were there stoned it might work for you, but the Temptations version is so much tighter.

You know, I've come to have a fair amount of respect for your intellect, but that comment just makes no sense at all.
keller1: where have you run off to? I miss your posts! My point: I cannot figure out what is going in the RP programmer's head? The Temptations are a pop act, pure and simple. Many pop acts don't get played here. I gave two examples of those who I liked. (still have not heard Mclean played here, even though 3 songs are in the archive...)

Yeah? So was Don Mclean and Peter, Paul and Mary. We don't hear them here though. I am guessing those are too "pop" or something. By someone's mystical, esoteric formula the Temptations don't qualify as "pop", so they get played here. If I had my druthers we would't hear songs that were ever overplayed, except every once in awhile.
There are three Don McLean tunes on the playlist; surprisingly, there aren't any from Peter, Paul, & Mary. I don't think that latter has often been considered too "pop", though. I don't think "pop" gets ignored here, especially if one considers that almost all rock music is "pop" anyhow.

Splendelicious!
I was never a big Motown fan in the 60's or 70's yet as time goes by, I really am beginning to appreciate the Temptations a lot more than I did in their heyday. A solid 8.
As much as I LOVE Motown, I have to listen to the oldies station 24/7 at work so I'm not feeling this one.

I visualize these guys on stage clapping and dancing in sync.

Great slice of essential Americana.
Perfect for adolescent angst, too. Heck, good for the soul now, too.

I don't think that's the same song. The only thing I can find by The Blenders is "People Get Ready", definitely not it.Woah...Bob Marley's "Rat Race" just kind of skidded into this one.

This stuff never gets old.
I remember hearing that a lot of Motown stuff was mixed using car speakers as monitors since most people (then) listened to the radio while driving around. Be nice to hear this remixed for better speakers.
Just had this flash of girls in go-go boots doing the swim...
SMOKIN'!!
Rare Earth got nothing on these guys.

It's been a long time since I last heard this.
It's good to hear it on this rainy morning.

Encouraging to see positive comments, all I get when I pop this CD in the car is eye rolls.
Anyone not dancing in their chairs might want to check their pulse.
I KNOW YOU WANNA LEAVE ME!
I love The Blenders a capella cover of this. It's awesome, from their album Totally Whipped.
Still sounds fantastic! Temptin' Temtations!
Taken me right back to my childhood cruisin down Woodward Avenue in the Motor City in the 60's!!
