I have all the time in the world
To make you mine
It is written in the stars above
The gods decree
You'll be right here by my side
Right next to me
You can run but you cannot hide
Don't say you want me
Don't say you need me
Don't say you love me
It's understood
Don't say you're happy
Out there without me
I know you can't be
'Cause it's no good
I'll be fine
I'll be waiting patiently
Until you see the signs
And come running to my open arms
When will you realise
Do we have to wait till our worlds collide
Open up your eyes
You can't turn back the tide
Don't say you want me
Don't say you need me
Don't say you love me
It's understood
Don't say you're happy
Out there without me
I know you can't be
'Cause it's no good
I'm gonna take my time
I have all the time in the world
To make you mine
It is written in the stars above
Don't say you want me
Don't say you need me
Don't say you love me
It's understood
Don't say you're happy
Out there without me
I know you can't be
'Cause it's no good

I was never a huge fan of their recorded music and then saw them live 2 yrs ago and again last week. And WOW -- their show was bombastic, an absolute blast. I don't want to start any Blasphemous Rumors but I am now a believer.
Blasphemous rumours are the best type BTW - if you're going to start 'em, make it worth it
anyway, love this. more DM.
I’m the biggest Depeche Mode fan I know, and the album from which this song hails, Ultra, is arguably their best.
Yes, they had recently lost a big portion of their sonic creativity with the departure of Alan Wilder, and the other band members certainly has their struggles at the time, but end to end, it has a drive and creativity that they haven’t matched since (Playing The Angel is closest).
It may sound sacrilegious, but I prefer Ultra to Violator. Highly recommended if you don’t have it.
Pretty much the contrary here, never been much of a DM fan. Have been developing a sweet spot for the early Vince Clarke records long after his leaving.
But then came Ultra and It's No Good in particular. Holy moly, what a great and timeless piece of music!
This song gets a solid 9 from me (in a personal universe where 10 is almost exclusively reserved for Beatles and Eels).
Boring beyond imagination.
Try to relax and understand....
Wow. Lossless, a set of Sony WH-1000XMS3 and this? Never heard it so well.
Try Fostex (KLF) horns and Maranz.
Cheers to Andy Fletcher as he makes his way in the great beyond. Thanks for the music...a soundtrack for a lifetime for me.
So humanizing when the musicians that accompany us on our journeys begin to shuffle off their mortal coils....sure is lonely when they go...
Nicely put.
I had to double check this wasnt Tears for Fears, at first
Never realized how much TFF took from DM until you mentioned the similarity.

You and I, we live on different planets.
Come to my planet, we have a lot of good music.
Never in my youth was I a DM fan, but I gotta say, I really like this songJ!!
Same here! Now I really like them!

Lmao... I totally know what you mean man! I was never into them but this song has really grown on me.
You and I, we live on different planets.
Thanks for your warning, so I don't plan to visit your planet.
Save in their own land.
Depeche Mode is like architecture - art that's designed to serve a function. DM is great to do housework to - seriously- try it.
I prefer the Psychedelic Furs brand of Luff songs...

Me too. Martin was so ahead of it, lyrically and musically. And they also had Bomb The Bass as a producer. Groove was his middle name. :) Even the follow up, OWILM and Surrender were stellar songs, one of DM's best.
Sadly, I think Martin has lost the lyrical and musical focus and their latest album Spirit was mediocre at best, also grumpy and grim (and not in a good way). They should have ended their career on a high level with Delta Machine, IMO. But oh well, we'll see if they have any juice left in a possible future album.

exactly what I think.
I would put Songs of faith and devotion in the second place :)

This one really rocks and has balls, at last!
This is a great album to listen to on headphones and bicycle trails with.
Seamless transition from Stereo MCs!
Likewise. However, I've just this second bought the cd...
Don't forget a very young Natalie Portman!
Lacklustre, except the ending groove.
I wouldn't say the best...but definately up there.
Band on the run - downhill!
No - not with this song!
and PS - I love Luc Besson's Nikita (.....na-KEEE-tahhh...)
Yes! Just watched this again. I'm sure the guys enjoyed poking fun at themselves. Gahan has the lounge lizard act down perfectly; the disgusted looks that the "girls" throw him are hysterical.
DM isn't for everyone. They always struck me as the logical extension and conclusion of the New Romantic movement in '80s pop, with dance and goth cultures thrown in for that dark edgy touch. A band can keep that up only for so long and their fanbase grows out of that kind of music.
I only remember bits and pieces of Besson's "Nikita." I remember laughing my ass off when Nikita starts to receive martial arts training and slaps the hell out of her instructor thanks to her superior hand speed. The American version with Bridget Fonda was pretty lame, wasn't it?
Besson's "Leon: the Professional" with Jean Reno was amazing. Loved Gary Oldman in that--brilliant actor.
Just an FYI for you Nakitaheads out there, the entire series is now available for purchase on iTunes, although it is a bit pricey.
And I just watched the original Luc Besson film for free on Hulu last week, definitely worth a re-take!
one of the better things T.V. has had since the golden years of live stuff.

I have a different experience...
Such important band in my youth...brings back a lot of good memories
As far as I know, it's totally defunct. Your only option is to purchase all the seasons on DVD (and there are scant extras, but who cares? The show itself is worth to cost.) Warner Brothers totally dropped the ball on this show. And I'm not surprised.
Thanks for that, though it's taken me aback a bit - this is the kind of adulation/obsession/devotion that defines a series as "cult", right enough. Reminds me of those (including myself) who followed The Prisoner, many of whom went seriously over the top in their devotion, and indeed there are still annual Prisoner get-togethers at Portmeirion, so I've heard.
I never saw the TV series La Femme Nikita, but vaguely remember the original (Luc Besson?) film in French which was disturbing and genre-busting. I must make a point of getting it out of my local library to watch it again.
I edited my original post because apparently, my cat sat on the keyboard and deleted a bunch of stuff, so my comments didn't make a lot of sense. (Maybe they still don't.) As for the conventions, they were discontinued in around 2000. The original Luc Besson film was a lot darker and more violent than the series. He has an exceptional talent as a director, though.
Actually, the television series was light-years better than the movies. Lots of cutting-edge music (ever heard of Rhea's Obsession? Vibrolux? Two excellent Canadian bands whose songs were used in the series. And they're just really nice people, too.) To my knowledge, the conventions stopped in about 2002 (the series was cancelled in 1999 but was brought back for an additional eight episodes by a rabid fan base. At one point, people were sending broken television sets to Peter Roth's office owned the copyright to the show and didn't even know it> with notes saying, "Won't be needing this anymore, since LFN has been cancelled." It drove him a little bit nuts.)
I recommend at least renting the first season of the series (NOT the new one which is WB's blatant attempt to cash in on what they let slip through their fingers the first time) but the one with Peta Wilson, Roy Dupuis, Don Francks, Matthew Ferguson, and the incredibly gorgeous Alberta Watson. It's worth a look. And a listen - tons of great music, not the least of which is Sean Callery's score. (He's a nice guy, too.)

Convention? Are there really conferences dedicated to this TV series? I've never seen it, but have seen the film, and have heard that the TV series isn't a patch on the film. Is this a cult series along the lines of, say, Buffy or The Prisoner?
Great DM number - 9 from the Nottingham jury.

One of my favorite bicycling albums on the ipod
Thank you, Bill!
Thanks for the trip down memory lane, Bill!
Cheese makes everything better, like butter...so if this is "cheese", it would be fine aged Parmesan, the King of Cheeses!
Stick a knife in it, melt it, pour it on!
Why yes Howard. Can we dance ? Do you still remember how we did the
"John Travolta + Olivia Newton-John" ?
Oh look, there's Danny and Cha-Cha !!
Just got our tickets for DM at Red Rocks on Aug. 28. Nothing like an AARP gathering, rocking out! Don't bogart that joint, grandpa!
You're funny dookie
God, does it ever stop?
God, does it ever stop?
This tune is kinda catchy from that gothy gloomy bunch.
Naw..It's no good!
Not too sure what you're trying to say here but I accept your apology.
9/10
