Don't need lyrics on this.  But the message is much like Louis Armstrong's classic Black and Blue.......me thinks.
Listening since his resurgence in 2000. As the years pass, this basic blues riff & lyrics grow more exquisite.
Love this!

WOW! Thanks SO MUCH for this link!! Quite the story there. Definitely goes to show ya....the Lord works in mysterious ways! That man overcame so much, and became quite the talented artist! Humble as the day is long! Thanks again! ✌️

What?!! "No lyrics available"?  Come on, Bill...take a shot at it. Love good ol' R.L.
RL was a badass.  And I love the hip hop mix stuff late in his career.

Can't even say I'm a lover but thanks for sharing such insight (dripping with sarcasm) use the PSD   ! lol

Every time I hear this it reminds me of my father's brother Bob, (yes, Bob really is my uncle lol). He kinda looks like R.L. on the cover shot (the way he stands and the pot belly) and sounds like something he'd sing.
Love this guy. One of the last of the originals. RIP.
Every time I hear a song by RLB, the first words that come to my mind are, "this guy is the real deal."  I didn't think that there were any real bluesmen like this after 1970 or so.

If you are truly interested in this culture, check out the documentary "You See Me Laughin' - The Last of the Hill Country Bluesmen" about Burnside and his cohorts. It's an excellent look into a world most people are only dimly aware of. It's a world I grew up in and I appreciated its honest, dry-eyed appraisal.

I think it's on Netflix, and Amazon Prime might have it as well.

Thanks for the tip!

I doubt that Burnside was coping any of Moby's stuff. Maybe the other way around.

Not half bad. It skates a little too close to the "novelty record" side of the pond to be enjoyed without reservations, but it could have been far worse.

Love anything this man does. Not only endured before the civil rights movement, but what musician can boast recording a cd with his grandson ... and it becoming a huge seller?

Simple yet effective.I like the riff.
Glory be!  I so love the blues ......

Awesome groove! This song was in a movie called "Puncture", with Chris Evans. Never thought I'd hear it again. Thanks again RP!

Solid 8 for me.  I guess repetition is likeable if what's being repeated is something you're grooving to.....  {#Wink}
Awful!

Love R.L., but that album cover is hilarious.
Not quite a nine, not quite a ten, but seriously digging this.
Oh, Mr. Burnside!  Glory Be!  Yes, you are Up There in The Glory now, and may The Lord rest your righteous soul.   Here is a "Toast" to you!

"Oh Mister B,
Glory Be;
Oh Mister B,
The Glory you see;
Lord Love You and me!"

(Look up the description of "Toast" in re: this artist).

Dave

Nice groove...
I love that this has a blues-meets-hip-hop vibe. RL was born in 1926 (died in 2005). That's crazy. Awesome stuff for a guy who was around during the depression.

i felt that way for a long time. especially about one specific song that got played too much. but, i just moved this one up from a 1 to a 5.

love this. love the blues.
I apologize for the display of self-pity in my last post. The dentist had extracted a molar shortly before I wrote it. I feel much better now.

Po' me, po' me, po' me

Po' me, po' me, po' me

Po' me, po' me, po' me

REAL blues are an acquired taste, and I LOVE this!  (Mr. Burnside was probably playing guitar before I was born ... and I'm a member of AARP.)

EDIT:  He has an album named "A Ass Pocket of Whisky?"  Got to get that!  Sounds like most folks at the college football games around here ...
Yes you do. You bother me.
My band is practicing" Goin' Down South" from this record....what a bass line!!!

This is such a cool album.
Lot's of fun stuff on that disc.
I realize it's essentially all remixes, and released after his death,
But it's terrific and totally worth spending the money on.

Something to keep in mind here is that this album/song is a reworking of RLs work.  Someone below made the comment that it sounded like it was produced by Moby.  It wasn't, but at the same time it's not like the real RL albums.  This isn't to say that it's bad or inferior, just that it's different.  If you like this track, do check out the whole album.  I think it's great.

And, if you dig raw, gritty blues, then definitely check out other RL albums.   Burnside on Burnside, Ass Pocket of Whiskey, &tc.  Echoing below, RL was the real deal.
Well, he certainly is bothering me with how many times he says he isn't bothering anyone in this song. . .  :)

I like it but sounds like he is singing after getting his tongue numbed with Novocaine first...But I like it {#Mrgreen}
LOVE it! {#Dancingbanana}
OK, being a south Louisiana gal, this sure sounds like Sammy Naquins's "Glory Be"!

"Whoah, me growing a beard, me growing a beard" - wtf? {#Stupid} Nice number, for all its incomprehensible mumbling - 6 from the Nottingham jury.

It's bad, you know.

this is a bit like MMW meets MW - like it ! {#Bananajam}

(Martin Medeski & Wood meets Muddy Waters)

6 -> 8.  This one has (somewhat unexpectedly) caught my interest.  That funky repeating riff that comes in has something to do with it.
10! 10!
{#Bananajam}Gloria who.....lol/...vl example  of an example,,,,old rocks!!!!!  R.L. rocks....I purchased the CD   to nite...b 4 mid-night....my time  may God have mercy on my CD player

What's not to like nice melody for this time. Of night
Techno - Blues? {#Ask} Sounds like Moby produced this song. It works for me.

"I don't bother nobody"

Not true, this song bothers me a lot.

*edit* The rotation seems awfully heavy!  It's always that way with the ones you don't like, innit?  (I just heard this THREE DAYS ago!  {#Lol}   )

First time I hear the man;
nice blues groove, thanks R.P.{#Clap}

9!
Jon Spencer is all over this one... I thought it was sounding a lot like the Blues Explosion.
