I've been thinking it over
And I know just what to do
I've been thinking it over
And I know I just can't trust myself
I'm a Gypsy prince
Covered with diamonds and jewels
But then my lover exposes me
I know I'm just a damn fool
CHORUS:
I give what I've got to give,
I give what I need to live
I give what I've got to give, it's important if I want to live
I wanna live
I want to live my life
I wanna live
I want to live my life
As I load my pistol
Of fine German steel
I never thought I'd be so down and out
Having my last meal
But I know I can do it
It just took a few years
As I execute my killers
The morning is near
CHORUS
I wanna live
I want to live my life
I wanna live
I wanna live my life
I wanna live
I want to live my life
I wanna live
I wanna live my life
And I know just what to do
I've been thinking it over
And I know I just can't trust myself
I'm a Gypsy prince
Covered with diamonds and jewels
But then my lover exposes me
I know I'm just a damn fool
CHORUS:
I give what I've got to give,
I give what I need to live
I give what I've got to give, it's important if I want to live
I wanna live
I want to live my life
I wanna live
I want to live my life
As I load my pistol
Of fine German steel
I never thought I'd be so down and out
Having my last meal
But I know I can do it

I wanna live
I want to live my life
I wanna live
I wanna live my life

Sounds similar to their song for Pet Sematary.... Only it's: I DON'T want to live....

I Agree!!
How was this NOT used in a John Wick movie?

Take It DeeDee 1-2-3-4!!!
Loved the Ramones and saw them in San Francisco in 79, but then I lost touch with their music. They were much more punk in that era. This song is kind of standard rock and roll--where's the buzzsaw guitar? To me it turns them into a band you can compare to others. And here at least that does not help. Instead of the incredible Ramones they just sound like a so-so 80s band.

Wow I forgot they had some boring songs, almost any thing else by the Ramones would be better but it is a great setup for Iggys Lust 4 life.

much as I loved the Ramones, some of their songs were cack, and this is one of them...
Not my favorite track of theirs, but any port in a storm.
In a Spaceship in the year 3000 on the way to Mars...someone will be listening to the Ramones.

In conventional musical terms, one could say the Ramones were never great - but boy were they ever necessary.
Indeed.

Don't worry about it, hanssachs. They're not coming back, period. 3 out of the orig. "Forest Hills Four" are no longer with us.
But you knew that, right?
Um, no, actually - should I have?

Probably not, but I don't think he cares either. I knew that and I don't care other than sympathy for their remaining loved ones. Musically? Not so much.

I never listened to the Ramones much when they were biggish, and now that they're showing up on RP I find I really dislike the vocals, more every time I hear 'em. They can go away for another 10 years ...

I guess I'm one of the "rare" ones that is not much a fan of the Ramones. Maybe a couple of songs I can deal with but personally, they are pretty overrated.

Pour a little out for the leather and denim homies.
The Ramones are probably one of the most influential bands in rock. They brought punk to the masses, and infuenced the entire British scene with their 1976 tour of Britain.
BTW, Johnny's conservatism was balanced by Joey's leftist politics, and was one of the sources of acrimony in their relationship. The documentary "End of the Century" covers all this very well. Joe Strummer's description of the Ramones work ethic is great.
If punk is going against the herd, the Johnny's conservatism is one of the best examples of the punk ethos in action. In an industry where true conservatives are rare indeed, Johnny never backed down. Agree or not, you have to respect his convictions.

Although never a "closet Republican," (many around him said he was vocal about his opinions), Johnny made his political affiliation known to the world in 2002, when the Ramones were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. After thanking everyone who made it possible clad in his trademark T-shirt, ripped blue jeans and leather jacket Johnny said "God bless President Bush, and God bless America," <1>. He said in an interview, when questioned on his conservatism, "I think Ronald Reagan was the best President of our lifetime."

Allow me to savor this, what with the recent election results.
Gotta love that Johnny!
