Someone here will try and waste your time
And someone there will try and lead you blind
Life seems to be wandering 'round and 'round
Searching for the that which can be found
It's you, you, you, it's me, me, me
It's you and me, babe, we're all the same
And if you ever ask me if it's real
I couldn't tell you more than what you feel
You learn to read and write and spell your name
And find out in the end, it's all the same
It's you, you, you, it's me, me, me
It's you and me, babe, we're all the same
Someone here will try and waste your time
And someone there will try and lead you blind
Life seems to be wandering 'round and 'round
Searching for the that which can be found
It's you, you, you, it's me, me, me
Well, it's you and me, babe, we're all the same
It's all the same, it's all the same
It's all the same, it's all the same

Remember when drum solos were a thing?

And Randy was discovered by "Jimmy James" while Randy was jamming in a music store (only age 15 at the time, I think). "Jimmy James" gave him the nickname "California" to distinguish him from another Randy in the Jimmy James Band, and later on Randy formally changed his name to Randy California. "Jimmy James" went on to gain a modicum of acclaim as Jimi Hendrix.
Never knew much of the history of this band...17 year old Randy with his 45 year old stepdad on drums.

That album cover is a hoot. Back when Motel 6 actually meant you could get a room for $6 a night. Now you're lucky if that's what you pay in tax for a one night stay.
FWIW this album is in my all time top 10. Blew me away as a kid and I still like it.
That segue from Weapon of Choice was a work of art, IMO.
Did I hear some 'Moby Dick' during that drum break?
Can we get a gif of Austin Powers dancing the Frug?
I think Spirit and Iron Butterfly have the same drummer. Hint: it's not Moon, Baker or Bonham.

Agreed. Folks who do not know about Spirit would totally buy in if they heard Dr. Sardonicus. They would understand what influence the band had on the psychedelic music scene back then. PLEASE play Dr. Sardonicus or "I Got a Line on You"!
Spirit was a great band with great songs, but "it's you you you, it's me, me, me" isn't one of them.
Why we're hearing this instead of Dr. Sardonicus or Fresh Garbage I haven't a clue.

It may be time to retire this band. And I say this as an oldster.
the Point solid Spirit
You are so right great group!

Led Zeppelin and Spirit toured together in the early days(but not always at the same venues). On the tour , Jimmy Page overheard a song that Randy California was working on and , as was his habit(see also Jeff Beck) , used Randy's ideas to supplement his own creativity , resulting in 'Stairway To Heaven'. It's cross-cultural , maaan.

I had a good friend of mine sat the same about the Allman Brothers Band.
I figure you get it or not.
To each their own.
OK, what is the historical importance of this band?
I mean, is there any other reason as to why it is being played?
I mean, I don't wanna be toooo harsh but.

One of the best counterculture bands the U.S. has ever produced , check out your heritage kids. 'The Twelve Dreams Of Dr.Sardonicus' is an immense and classic album which is as relevant today as ever it was. Check it oot ! ✌

I still love a lot of their songs. Not just like. Wore out the vinyl and lost touch but RP reminded me and I bought the CD's. Others are discovering them now, like other great bands. Perfect? No. Innovative? Often. Fun? You bet.

Ahead of their time. If they just could have soldiered on through the rough reviews for "12 Dreams" and played Woodstock like they were supposed to...

One of my all time favorite songs. Tight drums, Cass.
