All of my love, all of my kissin'
You don't know what you've been missin', oh boy! ''(Oh boy!)''
When you're with me, oh boy! ''(Oh boy!)''
The world can see that you were meant for me
All of my life, I've been waitin'
Tonight there'll be no hesitatin', oh boy! ''(Oh boy!)''
When you're with me, oh boy! ''(Oh boy!)''
The world can see that you were meant for me
Stars appear and the shadows are fallin'
You can hear my heart a-callin'
A little bit of lovin' makes everything right
I'm gonna see my baby tonight
All of my love, all of my kissin'
You don't know what you've been missin', oh boy! ''(Oh boy!)''
When you're with me, oh boy! ''(Oh boy!)''
The world can see that you were meant for me
''(Dum de dum dum, oh boy!)
(Dum de dum dum, oh boy!)
(Ahh)

What would have happened if Holly, Hendrix, and Morrison had lived?
Cover single linked list!! :)
Bill is messing with my head .... all of these covers in a row...and then he ends it with a Buddy Holly original!!!
The last six songs all interconnected... marvelous ... RP and no where else.
First we had Natalie Merchant covering the Stones, then the Stones covering Buddy Holly, now the A-side of the prev track....I say flip the 45 over again and let's hear Buddy do "Not Fade Away!" This one's a 9 and the other a 10...to my ears. Long Live RP!!
Buddy and the Crickets created their own work in the studio/garage, Elvis was a bit more "created" IMO.
What would the state of Rock n Roll be without Buddy
Gonna be a GREAT DAY!!! Buddy : )

For sure. He died far too young - who knows what kind of music we'd be hearing from him today, had he not left this earth? Betting Tom Petty would have swiped him for the Wilburys, but I'm afraid Holly would have been too much of a good thing and they'd have had to get rid of Jeff Lynne...
As my wife is so fond of saying: "you say that like it's a bad thing".

"Fact??" You use the word loosely
Elvis had hits BEFORE Buddy...
I bet you have "done research on this" too....
Please shut up about the plane crash (commenters) and start talking about the fact that Elvis, The Beatles and all of Rock and Roll would not have existed if it weren't for Buddy Holly.

You are as ignorant as you are pushy. Buddy Holly was heavily influenced and inspired by Elvis as well as Bill Haley. Try to be a little more knowledgable and less combative.

Didn't Waylon Jennings trade his seat off to the Big Bopper? Or was it Richie?

3->5 Okey, this is not so bad rock and roll song.
(but still it must hit to my mood)

Can never hear this song too much. Great to hear this in the mix.
I love the raspy sound of his voice here. I went through a really big Buddy Holly phase in the 80's. So much talent ~ I always still enjoy.
Buddy! 10! 10! 10! And I remember all the words!

I didn't know that homosexuality even existed in the 50's.
"oh boy, I'm so in love with you"
This song is more progressive than I ever gave it credit for.

Those "generic back-up singers" were The Picks; they did a great job on this tune. The job (by definition) of back-up singers, is to provide an unintrusive, vocal background, which enables the lead vocalist to feature prominently in the foreground.
The guy is damn passionate. You can hear the generic back-up singers getting a pay-check, while Buddy blows them away.

Simple, Pure, and all so Good!
OOOHHHHHHH Darn! All that talent dead in a snowy cornfield. His music is immediately identifiable. Plus, I know most all the words.

Oh, shut up. You have a few bouncy-happy songs in your "9" list. Then again, your idea of bouncy and happy is probably not the same as mine, but THE BEACH BOYS? Onny thing bouncyhappier than that would be Katrina and the Waves. (And I like "Walking on Sunshine," thankyouverymuch.) Also - take into consideration the year this song was released. It was before the loss of innocence, the meth problem, metal-detectors in schools, strip-searches at airports, and all manner of other stuff into which I don't want to delve here.
Still, you've got a hell of a great selection of stuff that you rated "10." Sorry you don't like Buddy Holly, but even if you can't change your mind, I hope you'll remember that he was a pioneer of the music you're listening to today. He took risks, fought hard for his music, and left a legacy. If for no other reason, ya gotta admire him for that.

It's still happy bouncy Cynaera. I really wouldn't care if I ever heard it again.

Great song for a Saturday.
Buddy's music stands the test of time. As pop music moved more and more towards rock and away from big band sounds, his music is a benchmark. Sure, not blistering lead guitars, philosophical lyrics or quirky rythyms, just straight ahead rock and roll to dance to. Drawing from the blues and country, he was one of the first to forge a new style. Good to hear our roots....
Simply superb.
