Lyrics:

Where'd you get your liquor
And where'd you get your dram
Come all the way from England
To steal your pretty hand

Apple like a cherry
A cherry like a rose
How I love you, Cindy
Oh, God in heaven knows

Get along home Cindy, Cindy
Get along home
Get along home Cindy, Cindy
I'll marry you sometime

Cindy got religion
She had it once before
She spilled it on a Saturday
Upon a hardwood floor

And once I had a banjo
Every string was twine
The only tune that I could play was
"I Wish That Girl Was Mine"

So, get along home Cindy, Cindy
Get along home Cindy, Cindy
Get along home Cindy, Cindy
I'll marry you sometime

Get along home Cindy, Cindy
Get along home Cindy, Cindy
Get along home Cindy, Cindy
I'll marry you sometime

She took me to the parlor
She cooled me with her fan
She swore I was the prettiest thing
In the shape of mortal man

I wish I had a needle
As fine as I could sew
I'd sew the girls to my coat tail
And down the road I'd go

Oh, get along home, Cindy, Cindy
Get along home, Cindy, Cindy
Get along home, Cindy, Cindy
I'll marry you sometime

Get along home Cindy, Cindy
Get along home Cindy
Get along home Cindy, Cindy
I'll marry you sometime, oh

I'll marry you sometime
Oh, oh, oh, I'll marry you sometime
Oh, oh, oh, I'll marry you sometime
fingerpin is right about paying attention to the start of Robert Plant's music. The first four LZ albums were full of American rural blues and British traditional folk songs, electrified beyond easy recognition, but drawing much of their power from their roots.

Most popular music is evanescent, but some of it survives and transcends its era to become "folk" music that everyone knows. "Cindy" is such a survivor. It's a great American fiddle tune and folk song from the 19th century, and this version is evidence that its melody will survive well into the 21st. RP plays a lot of great music, but only a fraction of it will have the lifespan of this tune, whatever one thinks of this particular version of it.

well possbily, I really dont remember Andy asking Helen or Aunt Bee to squeeze his lemon.{#Ask}

Oh, Helen didn't need to be asked; now Aunt Bee...that would be so wrong.
We digress. {#Wave}

I never thought the day would come when Robert Plant would sing the same songs as Andy Griffith!

Kind of reminds me of when Pete Townshend said this about the MTV Unplugged version:  "I'm glad that Eric (Clapton) has sold millions of albums, but if I hear that bossa nova bongo version of 'Layla' again, I think I'll scream."

What the ...?  Robert, whats happened to you?  Leave your skirt at home and get back to making some real music.

I'll check back later. Seriously.
That's an inexcusably bad album cover.
Best version...Ricky Nelson and Dean Martin on vocals, Walter Brennan playing a mean harp, John Wayne grinning!

are yeah kidding me .........one of the biggest voices in rock 'n' roll from the 70's ....and aptly put by beeblebrocks40  the predecessor of this note .........now ballading with Gomer as a backup (no pun intended), Opie on mouth harp, Aunt Bea on the jug (could be worse), and good old Barney bouncing his one bullet off the desk top( he can't clap in time the man has absolutely no rythym at all) ............how low the mighty have fallen .....Roberto your not country at all ...your not even rock any more .....your in Mayberry limbooooooooooooooo!!!!

Fantastic album!

I like this.  Saw him on the Today show yesterday saying this album was coming out today.  He's looking old.  Still one hoopy frood.
