Oh my my
Little white lie
I swear I'm gonna make it right this time

It's like a radio
Turning way down low
Telling me things I do not know I know

Tonight you will be mine
Tonight the monkey dies
Tonight you will be mine
Tonight the monkey dies

Now who's to blame
We used to be the same
Now you won't let me speak your name, what a shame

It's a suicide
Shut up and drive
We're never gonna make the light but it's alright

Cos tonight you will be mine
Tonight the monkey dies
Tonight you will be mine
Tonight the monkey dies

Tonight you will be mine
Tonight the monkey dies
Tonight you will be mine
Tonight the monkey dies

Oh, tonight you will be mine
Tonight the monkey dies

Not a bad cover, but the original from Low is an absolute classic and far superior.
I've seen Low perform this live twice, and both performances were spine-tingling.

shock the  monkey...

That sucked the life and joy out of my day.
Yep! ...Too many Monkey songs!

Some nice guitar playing on this track. As far as everything else... oh dear.

It might be Buddy Miller on guitar?
needs more joy
What could the monkey have possibly done to deserve this??

Is that Kate Bush singing backup?

It's Patty Griffin!

Or "Tweeter and the Monkey Man" by the Traveling Willburys.

 Wull then ...  crank it.

Patty Griffin is credited with backing vocals, but it sounds a lot like Buddy Miller's wife Julie to my ear.

I'd agree with that. Doesn't sound like Patty at all. Perhaps it's Bekka Bramlett who's also credited.

I'm sorry to say it is.

Nice, slow jam. In a UK interview, Plant said this was the easiest album he's ever made.

doesn't seem like he gave much of an effort on this cut.

Liking Plant is akin to praising Microsoft.

Both fail to deliver their very best at all times.
It's not cool to go with the herd but it is safer on the wallet.

But Plant EARNED his fame
Well...shake me like a monkey.

Love it.
Gosh darn it! It is hard to watch Bob just kill himself like this. Why? The original by Low is so powerful and edgy, I just wonder what an aging rock star thinks he can bring to the table with this one.
I trust this isn't the strongest track on the effort...
At this point, I hope that damn monkey suffers.

Isn't this a cover?

Yes. The original was done by Low.

No pain, no gain?

That would be Patti Griffin.  I'm hooked on Plant, so I buy everything he does!  Love Patti as well, so this album is a double bonus, great stuff!!

Is there a song somewhere in there?
