A man inside a room is shaking hands with other men
This is how it happens
Our carefully laid plans
Shake it, shake it baby
Shake your ass out in that street
You're gonna make us scream someday
You're gonna make it big
You love so deep, so tender
Your people and your land
You love 'em 'till they can't recall
Who they are again
Work it, work it baby
Work your way 'round that room
You're gonna make it big some day
You're gonna make a boom
But I am
But I am
But I am not a number, not a name
But I am
But I am
But I am a carefully laid plan
Shake what your mama gave you
You know that it won't last
You're gonna taste the ground real soon
You're gonna taste the grass
A man inside a room is shaking hands with other men
This is how it happens
Our world under command
Shake it, shake it baby
Shake your ass out in that street
You're gonna make us scream someday
You're gonna make us weak
You're gonna make us scream someday
You're gonna make it big
This is how it happens
Our carefully laid plans
Shake it, shake it baby
Shake your ass out in that street
You're gonna make us scream someday
You're gonna make it big

Love most of her renditions ... this is not one of them ...
Volume control is your friend.
Concerning some negativity - I like Regina's music and I like this song. I never cared much for Elvis Costello, until he came out and sang a solo during a Jackson Browne Concert, he just blew me away. Sometimes imagining what a performer would be like if you were there in person watching them sing can open avenues of appreciation. I think Regina is Godlike in person!
I also really like Radio Paradise's rating scale because of the positive slant it has almost all the way down.
10 Godlike, 9 Outstanding, 8 Most Excellent, 7 Quite Likeable, 6 Pretty Good, 5 Decent, 4 Acceptable, 3 Ho hum, 2 Marginal, 1 Sucko-barfo.

A fabulous voice, brilliant, quirky song-writing, amazing talent both in studio and live.
And she's gorgeous.
And she's gorgeous.
Regina is one of ''called'' true artist!
might fine
Makes me want to shove skewers in my ears.

Her voice is very nice. It's how she uses it that I can't stand. I'm sure you could make a Stradivarius sound horrible if you tried.
Can't believe the negativity, her voice is gorgeous!

Works for me, although I'm not sold on her song for the opening of "Orange is the New Black."

I agree with Kingart...... Her voice is intolerable and a comparison to Tori Amos is blasphemy.
I like the wry, allusive lyrics, but the voice and music straddles barely tolerable and shut-up annoying.
Great sequence: Tori Amos -> Regina Spektor: the latter due a lot to the former.
REALLY sounds like she's trying to hard. Looks like she's got the "ironic hipster" look down though.
Discovery of the year for me. Super! All of her creative work
See on hea.
Yuk
I've been listening to this song for the last few weeks as it comes through. It is now a 9. Outstanding.
Her voice makes my skin want to scream...instead, it just crawls.
Perfect commentary for these Troubled Times ... just sayin' Yo! (does anyone under 30 still say that, just askin', yo)
Got this one and Bonnie Raitt's new one a while ago. Mrs. Lizard glommed on to them, and I haven't seen much less heard them since. Must be pretty good, but I wouldn't know.
Awful.........
Did Joe Biden write these lyrics?
Love you Gina!! Muah!

What was that, some kind of 90 second interlude between two other songs on that album? Like 'White Car' off of Yes' Drama album, or 'India' off of Roxy Music's Avalon...

Thumbs up - I like it. Very PJ Harvey'ish which is a good thing.
