Oh, we are fighters in our prime
And as I look to your corner from mine
They say the chasm is black and so terribly wide
But I believe that's a trick of the eye
And there are mountains in your eyes
I suppose it should be no surprise
The war that you wage against smiling at your age
Is the only thing you said unwise
When you look like you do
When you look like you do
When you look like you do
Oh come alive inside this light
Your journey on is my delight
I sense a feeling so strange as I'm watching you change
From a man into a portal knight
So play old man
Won't you play?
I'll sit by your side, if I may
And soak in your soul
While denying it so
Contesting your claim
You're nearly through
I don't believe you
When you can do what you do
I don't believe you
Oh why don't you just play?
And as I look to your corner from mine
They say the chasm is black and so terribly wide
But I believe that's a trick of the eye
And there are mountains in your eyes
I suppose it should be no surprise
The war that you wage against smiling at your age
Is the only thing you said unwise
When you look like you do
When you look like you do

What a cute tune.

Gorgeous track on a vastly underrated and often overlooked album written in the immediate aftermath of her father's passing, and a divorce from her husband. Tricky times to make such beautiful art out of - but she did it! Thoroughly recommend listening to this album if full.
Bloody gorgeous

Love this album. Such a lovely feel start to finish and so different to her other stuff that I also like.

ˈRoʊmiˌoʊ
Do I share a laminar flow
Although it just sounds like crow
So now Juliet is in right place alright
Then who's gone play this banjo
The one whatshisname in Bordeaux
To this day I don't know how'd I even live a day without, say
Brigitte Bardot, and looks like
They'd sooner say boy 'you shouldn't come around here'
Looks like whole thing is going to blow.
A part nature

Love KT, but this one is just too sleepy for me.
Very nice voice!
I've been listening to this album for many months now and it is certainly a grower getting better each time i listen to it. This is kT at her finest; an amazing collection of songs.

I'm not so sure. I think that if this was the same as the first two albums, then you'd be the first to complain it's the same old stuff.
Er, no, I wouldn't. Artists do not have to 'evolve' or 'change' styles for the sake of it. That's what the critics want, but then they're a bunch of know-nothing ponces who talk unimitigated bollox.
The change in KT's output came, going by articles I've read and a radio interview I heard, during an 'epiphany' when she went on an Antarctic voyage with a bunch of musical celebs. IIRC she suffered a 'crisis of confidence' as a wee lassie from Fife surrounded by Sting and other ageing big cheeses, and decided that she had to become more 'sophisticated'. Hence the album Tiger Suit which was a stark, poppy and highly-produced contrast from her first two albums. Invisible Empire is a continuation of Tiger Suit.
If that's what she really wants, fine, that's her business, and as a punter if you don't like it you don't buy her sounds. Simple. So I'll not be buying this album, and will continue playing her first two albums as they really are something special.

Well I don't listen to her first cd anymore. I like this KT better. Perhaps I'm the one that grew?
I hear a lot of Andrew Bird. I guess this means it is Birdy.

Agreed. This album also reflects her own circumstances (divorce, death of father) and was recorded over two distinct periods. It's more stripped back to the bare essentials, I sense it's the mark of a new cycle beginning for her and she'll build back up over the next couple of albums.
She's a bit of a musical chameleon, every album's been a bit different as she's reinvented herself. Which is great!

I'm not so sure. I think KT's getting a bit soft and losing her spikiness. I really liked her first two albums, where she was a lassie from Fife belting out brassy songs on her guitar. Now that she's become an international star, I wonder if she's becoming a little too 'reflective' and generic. The songs on this album that I've heard on RP are nice enough, but they don't make me sit up and listen as those out of Drastic Fantastic did.
Still, it's all subjective. I'll keep following the Fife lassie on her 'musical journey' :)

Top album - nice track. KT's best album to date.

Not always a KT T fan, but liking this track.
Bumped this to 9 - she's special
Süper!!!
Wonderful voice.
Go see KT in her solo show on tour now. Wonderful talent and personality. Exceptional artist.
Bill, how's about spinning "Boys of Summer", arguably better than the original. "Crows" is gorgeous, too.

I love that funky organ solo in the middle...wait, where it the middle? Lots to like here
Smooth and sweet KT music
