Hold yourself a little higher
Bridge that gap just further
And all your being
I'd ask you to give it up
Oh ancient feeling love
So beautifully dressed up
Feeling shyer, I'm feeling shyer
I'm feeling shyer
Maybe you should call her
Deep in the night for her
And all your being I'd ask you to give it up
I'd ask you to give it up
These guys posted an entire concert of their California Soil album during COVID and it is a wonderful and free masterpiece in both performance and engineering. It is worth looking up on YouTube. It highlights the talents of all three of them.
thank you for this!
Pretentious repetitive nonsense.
But enough about your song comment.
I bought this album mostly on the strength of her vocals and it's not worn well sadly. Is there any there there?
Once you take away the vocal performance the music leaves a lot to be desired. Hopefully the second album (there must be one in the works) has music of more depth and lasting appeal. Otherwise she needs to go solo :)
Can't say I agree, but I do see your point. The music is actually quite atmospheric and hypnotic (War on Drugs and The Boxer Rebellion) and the lyrics are very personal and introspective — but then Hannah Reid starts to sing and holy shit. Everything is transported to another level, at least for me.
Agreed, robus. Killer vocals. Consider these vocals? (https://www.jessicamitchellmusi...) Can't seem to convince anyone here to post a track. She's been miscast as "country", sadly. Trying to be seen as singer-songwriter...
I had a listen to Jessica Mitchell and she's pretty good, but London Grammar in a different league.
I don't rate your comment very highly either.
Funny I posted almost the same thing a few minutes after you did...

I agree in small part -but I think London Grammar provides the perfect back-up for Hannah Reid's amazing vocal talents. When you have that kind of voice it needs to be front and centre - carrying the song - with just enough melody behind it to provide the base. I get swept away with every song I hear by London Grammar, because Hannah Reid takes me there.
Dogs are the best! Normally shy looks different than this happy husky... fear is visible in eyes for both humans and dogs. Looking down is all we need to do.

You'll be wearing a stained raincoat?
Loser
Own this CD and the following one. Both are excellent.

Well I've still not reached that stage. After hundreds of listens I love it more than ever!

I would like to hear her backed by a full orchestra, but really, having a very spare & delicate accompaniment allows her voice to shine.

I agree, however the bass in the first number (Hey Now) blows me away every time

HA! Nice one!!
You are correct Sir Fred.....130 miles" ain't nothing" in the States.
... same up north here Mr. Fred - that's nowhere near a 6 pak and a 'alf a left handed Marlboro. North of the parallel's is not marked in kms or miles, it's marked by the time it'll take you - measured by the amount you can drink, smoke and change tapes. 17 hours is a normal driving day - try Fairbanks,Alaska to Ft.Nelson,British Columbia in 20 hours with a weather warning and bare to ice covered roads...
...and then some O_T_B...

People, it seems we have a new troll.
I'm afraid not. calle01 is a well-known troll. Have a look at his ratings, that says it all.

Lahndan's 130 miles South of Nottingham, although two members met whilst at Nottingham university. I guess in North American terms 130 miles is the backyard, but we operate on less grand scales this side of The Pond. However, the Nottingham jury most certainly rates London Grammar highly, and without doubt they're flavour of the year with the music Press over here.

She's smart to buy a "smart" shirt.

She is obviously (and understandably) proud of her midriff. Not a huge fan of the styling, particularly that dude with the ridiculous hair, but I do dig the song.

Still good!
Listen to the whole album ( the 2 CD version ). Hannah has a vocal range far better than Florence ( who I think is also brilliant ). The other factor is that London G' are a trio. Florence and The Machine are a powerful sounding band but it takes six of them to get there.
I can listen to Florence for one album. Had enough, London Grammar I can put on repeat and just get enveloped by the sound.
Cooper: Wow. You guys are on like a completely different level of swearing over here.
