I see you've come for me again
With a noose between your teeth
You are not my friend
Pouring little cups of tea
Humming a little tune
You sit across from me
And fill my little room
Little god
Smoke is in the air
From your little cigarette
You tell me to throw the fight
Go and place your little bet
Shake, little god-
Shake your little fists
All the strippers think you're odd
But you leave the biggest tips
Little god
Where oh where did I leave myself today
On the bed, on the chair
Did I send myself away
On a sleepy afternoon
Will I be returning soon
Laugh your little laugh
Stomp your little feet
They sulk behind your back,
All the people that you meet
They say time is running out
And you don't know what to do
And I hear them talk about
Another place without you
Little god
Little god
Little god
Little god
Little god
I can hear that. Nice call.
I can easily imagine this being a Doors’ song and she is covering it.
I mean, you may not be wrong, this may well-describe he who came before:
"All the strippers think you're odd
But you leave the biggest tips"
Somehow I don't think the person who came before gave the biggest tips, lol!
The older mix is a bit disappointing. Drums don't get as angry, keyboards don't show up at the ends of the phrases to reinforce the Indian sounding scale she's using. But it's still on rotation on the CD changer in my old VW van.
T1 or 2?
I really like this...what is the other mix like?

RIP Patty What a beautiful spirit you are.....
Quite the impressive talent in her own right - gone too soon.

I haven't heard this one in a while...at least since before the 2016 election cycle. But now that I hear it again, I can see how the "little god" of the title fits a certain person of regularly in the news (pretty much daily really).
stomping feet and making sure you fill the RP room with smoke from your cigarette
Is that you, Vladimir?
Laugh your little laugh
Stomp your little feet
They sulk behind your back,
All the people that you meet

Funny; but I was thinking about another warmongering fascist currently in residence...

Perfectly describes Biden's state of mind for first year in office ... Stay Tuned!
hamberder?
Imagine Jim Morrison joining in!
I wonder if you say that because this song builds like "the end" in apocalypse now.
I know I feel like sacrificing a water buffalo by the end of this song.

Je doute vraiment qu’il « laisse les plus gros pourboires »

Get a grip.
I don't believe that she has passed.
This song always reminds me of Kim Jong Un though the lyrics don't quit fit.
With Kim Jong Un nothing fits. For long.
Really not up to her usual high standard.

I've had SolidWorks crash three times in the last week. Last time it ignored the fact that I was saving like every 20 minutes and set me back five hours. Nearly chucked the computer out the window. What good is a save button if it doesn't save? Bah!
Glad it's not just me. Yesterday I lost several hours' work over a random crash. Not a big assembly or anything either.

Please no.
This lyric moved so completely into my brain, it's got squatter's rights now. 10
Not in the mood for this today.
Angry music doesn't help when Solidworks keeps crashing.

I really doubt he "leaves the biggest tips"

The image has me thinking of an opposite to a Sonic Youth line about Karen Carpenter: "Oh honey, you look so underfed." Not the case with this one! (and I'm not being snarky.)
That would apply to the guy behind him to the right...and probably a few million other North Koreans too.

Wow, really? I find her voice pure magic. We are so apart on this I had to look at your ratings. Curious thing is that while the actual ratings may differ, I like what you like, pretty much to a song.
Taste is a fascinating thing.

... Wearing his face from the ancient gallery ...
Listened to her original version of this again last night and realised just how much emotion is missing from this re-record/remix. Sorry Patty but this is only a 6 where the original, much more disturbing version, was at least an 8.
Yep, the original had a whole lot more anger coming through.
That would be truly spectacular!

What is she getting at? In the Dilbert world where I listen, it's the little gods, their agendas, their means to the ends.

It's resonating a bit more today with my good friend leaving our work group for new horizons after being run off by the local little god.
I think the story is she was disgusted with her publisher at the time. Remind me to be nice to her should I ever be in such a position. I think this guys ass went up in flames...
I can hear that. Nice call.

Nice and edgy, which is a welcome change from the usual female singer/songwriters that RP plays so much of. I am done with soft lament songs by indie women who have been through bad breakups. This is how you can rock a slow tune.
Very Cippolina-esque guitar work...sigh, I miss his playing.
Exactly...
Yep, I feel the same way. The original was much more grittier then this. This version also seems a bit slower and not nearly as angry considering the subject matter.

Recorded long before Plant came into her life.
But this is definitely has a different sound. I have heard this so many times, never tiring of it, and this does indeed sound like this mix has been altered, for the better I suppose.

Couldn't agree more. We all know a little God.
Thats you and me both.
INAPPROPRIATE. Remove this please, and, GROW UP!
ditto
This is the album, though the whole thing was remixed. The original was tied up with a dispute with her original record company.
