I love War On Drugs, one of the better new bands to grace our world. It's too bad people feel inclined or the need to verbally abuse a band/song they "think" is awful or bad. If you don't like the song, rate it and move on...PSD button is there for you. I am fairly certain nobody really cares to hear anyone rant negativity. 
I don't know what it is, but this band just sounds so noisy to me. I don't know how to describe it....Just so shrill.

These guys are so good. Their music sounds ephemeral... timeless. You could probably play this 10, 20 years in the future and it wouldn't sound dated.

I could listen to this band all day...
Saw TWOD this summer at an outdoor festival. Was pleasantly surprised how hard and raw they were. I love the mellowness of their albums at home, but in concert the harder presentation and searing guitar was awesome!
Saw TWOD at the O2 Arena in London earlier this year and the very first track they played had such a powerful drum kick-in that it felt like I had been punched in the chest....and we weren't even that close to the stage....quite stunning !

Nice, evocative music. The bland lyrics, the flat singing and the muddy production need upgrades, though. Too many listens and the listeners are the ones who suffer.

I know this band is popular on RP but I'm just not getting it. Their music leaves me cold, I find it discordant and depressing.
With the amount of airplay they're getting I'll be having plenty of opportunity to see if they grow on me. Not happening to date, if anything the opposite.

I like most of the songs on this CD, but this one's just too dreary.
Beautiful instrumentation and smooth vocals with just a hint of emotion,...since I turned the volume up on hearing the first few bars it get's an 8 from me.
That image (on RP-HD) of the little kid being passed through barbed wire is heart breaking.

I have never heard of The War on Drugs; heard about it the other one though. Very nicely done. I was surprised to see it isn't one of the more popular songs on the album. if this is this good; can't wait to hear the ones that are the top sellers.

A lot of this CD sounds like 80s radio hits (Bruce Springsteen and Bruce Hornsby come to mind) that I really did not like that much. His voice just distils all that into a smooth, relaxed tone that just sounds so cool and mellow. I love the slide guitars on the whole CD, very unconventional arrangements yet quite familiar sounding at the same time.

Perhaps a more apt title would be "torturous"
