Lay down like land mines
It's hard to relax
A promise broken
The ground breaks open
Love falls through the cracks
And I've got a few of my own
I've got a few of my own fault lines
Running under my life
Running under my life
I'm alone here
I play the odds, dear
I go where I please
Down the road
A man I know might not be me
And I've got a few of my own
I've got a few of my own fault lines
Running under my life
Running under my life
A faulty table
Still is able not to fall flat
And I've got a few of my own
I've got a few of my own fault lines
Running under my life
Running under my life
You critics out there will pounce on this one, but i think his last two albums (Mojo and Hypnotic Eye) are among his all-time best. RIP, Tom, and thanks for always being a part of my playlists...
Mojo is a rare album that doesn't have a bad track! IMHO
I got chills, they're multiplying
And I'm losing control
'Cause the power you're supplying
It's electrifying!
... or is it just me?
Sadly, they’re just not making any more like him.
Glad I got to hear and heal from him.

i totally agree.
I'm ashamed to say that I never appreciated Tom Petty until after he died. My loss. This song is kick-ass good
Never too late to be a fan. Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers was the first rock concert I ever went to (without parents -- Chuck Berry in a Casino before that). It was in a high school gymnasium just before Damn the Torpedos came out and they hit the big time right after (amazing album -- every song rocks). Their stage show was just a huge confederate flag behind them. They absolutely rocked and I got chills down my spine -- knowing I was watching history in the making. Thanks for all the fantastic music, Tom.
can't sing and a shit song writer. no wonder someone burnt his house down
Off your meds once again, not mentioning any of your own fault lines, you just leave me to guess..?!
Wow, quite the desperate plea for attention. I guess your mommy didn't breast feed you long enough.
where did your mum get the sperm from to produce you?
Running under my life"
These lines of Tom's always hit me hard. Tragically, it was too true.

All hat and no cattle, but I'm sure you've been told that often.
Agreed. MOJO is an excellent album!
Thank you Bill
Grease will always be the word.
I never was a Petty fan. Only after he died did I start to hear songs I liked and RP was one of the sources. Not sure why I never checked him out live.
I don't think anyone of his generation turned out as many consistently great records, will always be one of my favorites!
I was just saying the same thing to a friend recently. To think that after so many years of producing great music that someone could still put out such fantastic albums
Ripper.
There was no one else there.
Good question.
It didn't work out so well for the surviving Doors, but then, the Foo Fighters did pretty well.
Amen.
+1
Great sound, then the singing starts.......
It is odd that with such a driving tempo he ended up using such a "laid-back" singing style. Well, I guess he knows what he's doing; good tune.

Backing for Grandpa Simpson.
I've seen Tom twice. He puts on a great live show. Don't pass it up if you get the chance.
Co-produced by Tom Petty & Mike Campbell (the guitarist). I agree — awesome guitar tone.
He did tour for this disc!
reading about baseball coming
and this song seems to fit in just right
Looks like tomorrow it rains.
See opens up space?
Don't you mean under rated..
If you had seen them on the last tour your comment would be different. Guitarist Mike Campbell is worth the price of admission alone.
Actually, on this track Campbell sounds like he's doing his best Jeff Beck. High praise indeed.
Good point; if you're going to emulate another guitar player why not emulate one of the best? I'll bet the drummer was happy that he finally got to play a different beat and tempo.
We're playing 7 songs from it, actually.
And thank you, BillG. Nobody else really is.
But I still can't seem to go 2 days without hearing Free Fallin'!
*ducks and runs*
I don't think you're hearing it quite right... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jbxOXSujwu0&ab_channel=STEcomix99
I ain't superstitious, but a black cat crossed my path....

Exactly.
Shame I really need to go but I'll just have to wait until the end of this song.

I was JUST about to write this!
