See those fault lines
Lay down like land mines
It's hard to relax
A promise broken
The ground breaks open
Love falls through the cracks
And I've got a few of my own
I've got a few of my own fault lines
Running under my life
Running under my life
I'm alone here
I play the odds, dear
I go where I please
Down the road
A man I know might not be me
And I've got a few of my own
I've got a few of my own fault lines
Running under my life
Running under my life
A faulty table
Still is able not to fall flat
And I've got a few of my own
I've got a few of my own fault lines
Running under my life
Running under my life

Mojo is a rare album that doesn't have a bad track! IMHO

Damn. I dig this dude’s music and talents. Saw him while I colleged in Gainesville. He rocked hard and put on a great show.

Sadly, they’re just not making any more like him.

Glad I got to hear and heal from him.
Love this one ... especially the drums all through. But the lyrics speak to me so deeply these days.
I got chills their mutliplyin' and I'm losing control....sorry wrong song :-)

Never too late to be a fan. Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers was the first rock concert I ever went to (without parents -- Chuck Berry in a Casino before that). It was in a high school gymnasium just before Damn the Torpedos came out and they hit the big time right after (amazing album -- every song rocks).  Their stage show was just a huge confederate flag behind them. They absolutely rocked and I got chills down my spine -- knowing I was watching history in the making. Thanks for all the fantastic music, Tom.
I loved his early work..."Borderline "   but when when he got into his 'Mary Jane/Papa Don't Preach' phase......i tuned out
great tune! don't we all have our own fault lines?
Steve Ferrone is no slouch either...
8 to 9 just for the fact that he was still rocking this hard 40 years into his career!
What a great album,miss you Tom❤️
just watched Sound City last night and really enjoyed seeing Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers during the early days. great film about the guys who gave a lot of bands a reasonably priced place to record...even Rick Springfield was interesting
Excellent!
My favorite T.P. tune! Thanx RP!
I'm ashamed to say that I never appreciated Tom Petty until after he died. My loss. This song is kick-ass good
Good tune!
The intracacies of this song are brilliant as is much of Tom and Mike's music.  Love rockin' out to this song.  For some reason I wish it was longer and in the same sentence it's the perfect length so I just want to listen to it again, only louder...Love hearing this tune every time.
I agree w LongGoneDays …

Off your meds once again, not mentioning any of your own fault lines, you just leave me to guess..?!
This song had it all! Great wailing guitars, great bass line, great lyrics, great drums, and Tom at his best.

These lines of Tom's always hit me hard. Tragically, it was too true.

Love this TP album. A real gem.
I like this album as well. Guitar playing is great and some great solos. Tom could sing any style. Hooks are great two

Agreed. MOJO is an excellent album!
Just went to 8, Great
Greatly underrated. Among other things, TP &HB one of the best bands supporting Bob Dylan in the 80s. Perhaps second only to The Band.
Happy Birthday Tom !!
Thank you Bill

I never was a Petty fan. Only after he died did I start to hear songs I liked and RP was one of the sources. Not sure why I never checked him out live.

I don't think anyone of his generation turned out as many consistently great records, will always be one of my favorites!
His songs get better the older I get.  Don't know why, I always liked him, but his songs age well.  RIP TP

I was just saying the same  thing to a friend recently.  To think that after so many years of producing great music that someone could still put out such fantastic albums

Ironically, my wife and I were talking tonight about what would become of the Heartbreakers now. We had no answer. Petty was the/their only songwriter. Steve Ferrone is a great drummer, and Scott Thurston a terrific multi-instrumentalist, but still...what comes of a great band apparently dependent on its namesake?

Good question.
It didn't work out so well for the surviving Doors, but then, the Foo Fighters did pretty well.

RIP TOM. Great work all round.
JAM ON, TOM, and may your Rock n Roll Spirit live on through this and all your wonderful songs! Thanks to you and your band. RIP...
Pixies "Where is my mind" fades to TPH "Fault Lines". Masterful.

To be followed up with "Walk Like an Egyptian".
Great metaphor...so true - don't we all!
That is some kind of dj programming genius to follow The Who' s The real me with this song. I never would have picked up on the rythmatic matching of these songs. Nice work RP!

It is odd that with such a driving tempo he ended up using such a "laid-back" singing style.  Well, I guess he knows what he's doing; good tune.

Co-produced by Tom Petty & Mike Campbell (the guitarist).  I agree — awesome guitar tone.

Classic Tom.
played way too often. good tune though.
This song has worn well on my ears.
Intro: Walk like an Egyptian.....
...ooh yes, always quite nice  {#Clap}
Oh ! I just saw WonderLizards comment...Jeff Beck it is !

No, I think that little opening guitar riff sounds like an old Jeff Beck riff from a song I just CAN"T put my finger (ear?) on....
Intro sounds like Blondiie.
I find this to be every bit as good or better than anything they have ever done. Truly a blistering guitar number, and Tom's voice is cool!
 WonderLizard wrote:

Actually, on this track Campbell sounds like he's doing his best Jeff Beck. High praise indeed.

Good point; if you're going to emulate another guitar player why not emulate one of the best?  I'll bet the drummer was happy that he finally got to play a different beat and tempo.
Love that old Rickenbacker sound he pulled from back in the day....

If you've ever seen Tom Petty, he runs a tight show. This tune is evidence.

Excellent, coming after the mad guitar and bass of Pete and The Ox in the last tune. I love how Campbell rips his licks HARD like Pete!
Might fine, tight little pop song. Takes a great deal of work to cram the ideas into a format like this. Think how dense and powerful the idea-transmission (Gedankenübertragung?) of songs like "Papa Was A Rolling Stone" or "Sympathy For The Devil" where strong images combine with a kickass, unforgettable melody.

For many listens, the screaming guitar held me in its thrall. Just now, I paid more attention to the lyrics — wicked sinister clever! I love it!
I need to add this album to Chrissie Hynde's Stockholm and Robert Plants Lullaby..., as one of the fine and pleasant offerings in 2014 from our "venerable and experienced" artists!
Hard to ignore this track from the new album.   Can't help but think I gotta put these guys on my bucket list.
