I took a little journey to the unknown,
and I come back changed I can feel it in my bones.
I f***ed with forces that our eyes can't see.
Now the darkness got a hold on me.
Now the darkness got a hold on me.

How long baby have I been away?
Oh, it feels like ages though you say it's only days.
There ain't language for the things I've seen.
And the truth is stranger than my own worst dreams.
The truth is stranger than my own worst dreams.
Now the darkness got a hold on me.

I have seen what the darkness does.
Say goodbye to who I was.
I ain't never been away so long.
Don't look back them days are gone.
Follow me into the endless night.
I can bring your fears to live.
Show me yours and I'll show you mine.
Meet me in the woods tonight.

Well, a) you can apparently fill it in yourself, b) some people might not need or want that in their music listening choices, and/or c) this is being played in a public place or someplace that otherwise is not appropriate for cursing. Maybe let's all just settle down and enjoy some good-enough indie rock, K?

Yes, it's easy enough to figure out.
It's way overused and I for one appreciate not having to look at the word - thanks

What's with the censoring of the lyrics, too much censorship everywhere these days. I think we are all familiar with the work fuck.

I love this track, but it sounds a lot like the old Woodie Guthrie song, Way Over Yonder in the minor keyBilly Brag does a great cover on his Mermaid Avenue album.

Woody's lyrics, Bragg's music with possibly an assist from Wilco who did half the music on Mermaid Ave.
Could also be a Springsteen song from the ?1980s
They also have a Midlake vibe to them.
Love to see them perform live!  Would have to dance at least 6 feet away from everyone else, but I'm okay with that - more room to get my groove on!

The melody and even the singing sound remarkably like the song on Mermaid Lane album of Woody Guthrie songs: "Ain't nobody that can sing like me, etc." (Billy Bragg, Natalie Merchant, etc.).  I know nothing about the Scottish singer mentioned elsewhere in response to this song, but the parallels with the Guthrie song on that recording are really strong and unavoidable. I try and not fall into the trap of hearing other voices/treatments of songs, but this one jumped out at me.

Hadn't heard that before but I hear it now. I doubt it's intentional.

sounds like - Fleet Foxes
Got to see them this past year at the palace theatre Louisville.  Magical night....

My first thought was War On Drugs but I see what you mean too.

Me too! I thought 'is this Springsteen or that band that sounds like him?' Anyway, its alright. I'll chuck it a 7.

I swear this is Bruce Springsteen reincarnated.

I'm actually imagining the changes in tempo, timbre, instrumentation, etc., that would be in effect if The Boss & the E Street Band were to perform this.

I'd love to hear Lord Huron's take on a few Springsteen tunes as well.

At first - for 10 or 20 seconds or so - I tought it WAS Springsteen.

not sure if it's good or bad but the bands music has made it's way to the attention of some advertisers and is now a regular with car commercials . glad it's finding a larger audience. I only became aware of Lord Huron thanks to RP. don't fault the band for wanting to get more attention. not sure that's the best way to do it. Love RP for playing it . groove on
dancing .... :)
love this!! what a freaking awesome song to dance to! Love the beat!!
War on Drugs - with backup singers.
love this song. bet they are dancing up a storm in that hotel room next door.
what ever happened to them?
Digging the song, a solid 8, but "Lord Huron" is a 10 for a band name.

My Mum used to tell my sister that she must never walk home through the woods from school.
My sister thought that was 'brill' because the lads from the grammar school with bikes would cycle round to the Girls School so they could have longer to chat them up going the long way round.  They weren't allowed to cycle though the woods either.

Is it just me or is the production/recording really awful? Very murky.
I like the song though.
8 only because it melodically has same rhythms as other songs or else a 9, good work has a style like springstein and buddy holly
first played Jan 2016, it looks like it's made it's way into a stay here
that's good
что-то новенькое
Yep, definitely listened to Jackie Leven at some stage.

I doubt these guys have ever even heard of Jackie Leven; most of this song sounds like songs from any number of "roots rock" acts - pretty basic chord progression and melody.  You never know though.
nice ! still hoping for some dead mans hand or fool for love / there aint frills in the after life !

I've really been enjoying this band. This album has many good songs, especially this song, Fool for Love and The World Ender.
Hope that Bill will play those songs too.  I'm hoping to see this band at the House of Blues in Boston in early June. But they are sold out. Darn.

I'm with you especially about The World Ender. Great sound and singing. For some reason the band really hits a sweet spot for me.

Everything is a ripoff of something. Anything truly original is usually too foreign and weird and alienating to enjoy.

I thought it was Bruce and I was thinking it was really different for him. This is a great sounding tune. We need some more tunes from this group.7.6 thanks RP.

I agree completely, they sound like everybody and sound like no one !

This has grown on me a lot over just a few days. . .to the point where I look forward to hearing it every time. Sounds a lot less derivative than I originally thought after giving it several listens!

Umm, nice tune...but the refrain's melody has a bit more than a vague resemblance to Stay Alive by Jose Gonzalez.

Also, Way Over Yonder in the Minor Key. I realize nothing is truly original, but this is kind of pushing the limits for me.

Happy to see LH continuing to have strong outings.  They've been good since those first EPs.

2nd listen for me, I bumped the rating up a notch to 7
Just picked this up after seeing the movie "A Walk in the Woods".  The music was the only thing of note.
A solid CD.
C'est good et frais ça. j'aime bien ! {#Music}
