Told you not to worry
But maybe that's a lie
Honey, what's your hurry?
Won't you stay inside

Remember not to get too close to stars
They're never gonna give you love like ours

Where did you go?
I should know
But it's cold and I don't
Wanna be lonely so show me the way home
I can't lose another life

Hurry, I'm worried
The world's a little blurry
Or maybe it's my eyes
The friends I've had to bury
They keep me up at night

Said I couldn't love someone
'Cause I might break
If you're gonna die, not by mistake

So where did you go?
I should know
But it's cold and I don't
Wanna be lonely so tell me you'll come home
Even if it's just a lie

I tried not to upset you
Let you rescue me the day I met you
I just wanted to protect you
But now I'll never get to

Hurry, I'm worried

Where did you go? I should know
But it's cold and I don't wanna be lonely
Was hoping you'd come home
I don't care if it's a lie

Having given this a listen several times, I can say if I never hear this ever again I'd be ok with that. Really disposable.
Said it before.  I'll listen a bit to stay a bit abreast and be hip and always open minded.  But at the end of the track and of the day, I say -- meh.  Or, worse.  Nah.
If I ever figure out why so much of what she and her brother poor out grabs me by the heart, I will shout it out right here. Given my usual tastes in music it is a very weeeeiiiiiiiiird and yet very real fenomenon

For now just straight to 8
Love this girl's story and talent. The music? Well, not so much.
Age has nothing to do with it. I’m 60 and she’s an amazing talent
I think she's the Dylan of her era.  Those of us not in her generation have a hard time appreciating her talent, yet those of her generations and the various awards committees feel she is a unique, important artist that speaks for her generation.
I dunno.  I don't mind her music, it just doesn't do much for me.  It seems there's always drama involved with the lyrics.   Bob was pretty funny sometimes... and those were some of my fav songs of his.  Maybe Billie is too... I just haven't heard that.
I throw up every time I hear this s@#$t.
Some people couldn't recognise raw talent if it bit them on the arse.

Especially when it presents unconventionally.

I remember the same attitudes to Kate Bush when she was young. I thought she was amazing then also. It just takes some a few years to catch up with reality. :-)

are you talking about the album cover?

She's only 22 and already musically brilliant. Imagine what she's going to be cranking out twenty years from now. Something to look forward to.

I wonder how many of the haters are reacting more to the name Billie Eilish than to the songs.  That is if they heard it without any knowledge  of who did it how they would react.? I suspect many just don't like the idea of  Billie more than they don't like the music. In a blind listening it doesn't seem that different from many other things on RP.

Although Billie Eilish is likely popular with the fifth-grade set, she is in the unusual position of also being popular with many older and theoretically more mature adults. Kudos to Billie for making very individualistic music that happens to be liked by many.

Very talented and happy for her success.

While I don't care for her voice or music, I hope she continues to gain popularity through pop stations.

A very good song, so many emotions : bravo

I think she's done some pretty cool stuff but I guess it depends on what one considers "classically trained".  From what I've read about her, she was in an organized, LA children's chorus when she was a kid, not enrolled at Berklee or Juilliard.
That’s my girl. Prefer a more jazzed up/electronic? version she let out. Can’t source it any more; there are quite a few variations done by her of this particular song. But. Hearing it: You just have to get up & DANCE. It’s that good.
This album was a giant splash into the pretty shallow pond of pop music.  Not sustainable though, unfortunately.
i need to see the Otolaryngologist. I turn it up and I can not hear any singing

BWAHAHA!! Who died and made you the standard body of quality mate? Have fun with your opinions and hop back in your pickup and listen to your golden oldie 8-tracks.

Now that wasn't very nice

It would be nice to hear a song from her once in a while.
I see two tracks in the RP library but neither is in rotation.
Anything from Big Science would be great! . . .

The flutter in the volume is like fingernails on the blackboard to me. I can barely listen to it. Too bad, because there's a lot of good things going on.

Aging is something we will all go through. Given this, I am embarrassed for ever complaining about older generations perspectives. How self-centered was that??
She gets played everywhere so very much - and I don't mind at all!  I have such hope for the direction of popular music whenever I hear Billie Eilish.  Thanks for playing a relatively un-played song. ...
I thought the emo genre was over. 🤮🤮

I just don't get the obsession with certain artists, where they are both objectively awful and pop up incessantly--Natalie Merhant is another. If an "eclectic' radio station wants to attract and retain listeners, it seems like they would curate the playlist a little bit better instead of playing so many songs from artists with middling rankings. I happily sit through certain novelty songs that other listeners object to because I know it's just the one song from one silly act. Having to listen to Billie Eilish et al. for what seems like every third song is painful and making me seriously consider giving up.

There's no such thing as "objectively awful".  Our apprehension, appreciation and enjoyment of music is entirely subjective.
Seems almost all contemporary female music falls into two categories:

- the hypersensitive adolescent
- the slut with a multi-million marketing department

Both making pointless and depressing music.
SHIT

I listen to a lot more variety than my kids and am generally more open. I don't hate Billie's music, but the hype is a bit much.

Similar in some ways but this is more melodic than most of the work I've heard from Laurie Anderson.

She is extremely talented and artistic.  I'm so glad she chose her own music and lyrics over the status quo.
Oh so whiny - were is the character
Meh

I get the scoffing about Billie. It's not easy being older, accepting newness. My teenage girls adore her, and for me, she's a breath of fresh, light, whimsical air compared to rap. For that alone, I'm grateful for her music. It's melodic, heartfelt and it has a style that resonates with time and attention. Don't stop Billie. And thanks RP for playing her.
What's the appeal of this mumbly little wannabe goth? Makes Thom Yorke sound dynamic.
What crap.
I can't wait for Bill to add more of Billie's songs to the rotation. She just keeps getting better and better.

So true, esp. considering it was released in 2019, which just goes to show how crappy 2020 has been, eh?  LLRP!!
I recently watched a Youtube of her and her brother perform on NPRs recent Tiny Desk series. Wow, she has sooo much control over her voice it's scary. Scary good!

Not sure what's up with sharing links in comments but you should look it up and watch it!
 She married Lou Reed.

But this is really bad.

You should follow this up with "When You Sleep" by Cake.

One or the few bright spots of 2020😃
I'm really liking Billie Eilish.
I wonder what happened to Laurie Anderson?
I agree with many others that there is some real talent underlying these works, making me want to root for her and hear more. That said, that synthesizer thingee I've heard in all her work so far will sound so dated and yesterday in a few years, boxing her into the group of artists long forgotten for being one trick ponies. She'll have to reinvent herself to maintain a career. And she might be good enough to do it, as she gains confidence.

She still lives at home with her parents and her brother (who she made this recording with) so that's a good sign. She seems very down to earth so far. I too hope she stays away from the bad stuff as I too think she is very talented.

No thanks

She's the most unique new sound I've heard in a long time, rises well above the pop plains.

And I've been around a long time... :)
This is pretty much the only music my 13yo and I can agree on, so she must be doing something right.
Another pop fad that will be gone soon enough.
This song is layer after layer after layer.  The more I hear it, the more I like it.
The empress has no clothes!
I haven't gotten into her music yet but I have to say I really like this tune.

Maybe Thom is also - her? In that case, all is forgiven.
Long live RP!  Although I'm not sure I like Ms. Eilish, I'm confident I wouldn't hear her anywhere else...

Thank you. Very well said. I've seen and read as much about her & her brother, as I could find so far. I really hope she sticks with it....psyched to see what they do in the years to come. H8ers need to appreciate the artist, if not the music. Imo, they are absolutely fantastic!!

Perhaps you may look into more about her & her brother. Amazing story and, c'mon...just look at what she's achieved, at such a young age!! Cut the kid some slack!! She's more accomplished than many of her veteran peers!!
A talent the whole family can agree on. From this 50-something white man, to my 40-something Puerto Rican wife and lastly our 15 year old and 12 year old girls. As Bill said, you have to respect her talent but most importantly, her refusal to be sexualized by the recording industry. A real role model for my daughters.

Meh.  No. Fey.  Musicianship? Can these production methods even spell it?  P-a-s-s-i-o-n.  Try that one. It's almost depressing.
