Here comes the sun, here comes the sun
And I say it's alright
Little darling, it's been a long, cold, lonely winter
Little darling, it feels like years since it's been here
Here comes the sun, here comes the sun
And I say it's alright
Little darling, the smiles returning to the faces
Little darling, it seems like years since it's been here
Here comes the sun, here comes the sun
And I say it's alright
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes
Little darling, I feel that ice is slowly melting
Little darling, it seems like years since it's been clear
Here comes the sun, here comes the sun
And I say it's alright
It's alright
And I say it's alright
Little darling, it's been a long, cold, lonely winter
Little darling, it feels like years since it's been here
Here comes the sun, here comes the sun
And I say it's alright
Little darling, the smiles returning to the faces

Here comes the sun, here comes the sun
And I say it's alright
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes
Little darling, I feel that ice is slowly melting
Little darling, it seems like years since it's been clear
Here comes the sun, here comes the sun
And I say it's alright
It's alright

Saw him twice.
1) U. of Md. in the commons with lots of weed about. 72-73?
2) Boston, July 4th celebration. At the commons (Market area) 75?
Both outside and well, what you would expect. OUTSTANDING shows.

So glad I had the opportunity to see Richie Havens perform this song in person at a small venue (about 300) here in California. Fabulous.
Great voice and superb perfortmer. My favourite version of "..the Sun"

Watch the video of him doing this song at Woodstock. Heck, just watch videos of his whole set at Woodstock. Astonishing.
Thanks for that. Spellbinding.

Nothing compares to the Beatles' original version.

If it's the one I knew it was a small live music venue in Washington DC that lead to the creation of Cellar Door Productions, a local concert promoter, which is now know as the much larger national live event promoter Live Nation
Wow. I spent many an evening at the Cellar door seeing some great acts to many to list. However, I didn't know that the person who ran that venue (when I just looked it up I was surprise that it seated 163) went on to create Live Nation. Impressive.
OK, one story since you insist. August 8, 1974. Minnie Riperton opens for Doc and Merle Watson (sounds strange I know). Before Doc and Merle come on stage, a Television is put on stage and so we could watch Nixon's resignation speech. Only in DC speech.

It seems an impossible task to cover a Beatles tune without suffering in comparison. RH has nothing to be ashamed of.

Indeed! If you haven't seen it, you should. Your life will be richer for it!
(not richer haven't, LOL)
