I know we didn't choose to change
You might not wanna lose your power
But having it's so strange
She said you were a hero, you played the part
But you ruined her in a year, don't act like it was hard
And you swear you didn't know (Didn't know)
No wonder why you didn't ask
She was sleeping in your clothes (In your clothes)
But now she's got to get to class
How dare you?
And how could you?
Will you only feel bad when they find out?
If you could take it all back, would you?
Try not to abuse your power
I know we didn't choose to change
You might not wanna lose your power
But having it's so strange
I thought that I was special, you made me feel
Like it was my fault you were the devil, lost your appeal
Does it keep you in control? (In control)
For you to keep her in a cage?
And you swear you didn't know (Didn't know)
You said you thought she was your age
How dare you?
And how could you?
Will you only feel bad if it turns out, that they kill your contract?
Would you?
Try not to abuse your power
I know we didn't choose to change
You might not wanna lose your power
But power isn't pain
Hmm
Ooh, ooh, ha
La-la-la-la-la
I am ambivalent about her music, but it is certainly unique. If you don't like it, you don't have to listen.
I do think she has talent and a great voice, even if she chooses to mumble sing.
She mumble sings cuz she won't smile!
Here's a little FYI to take to heart: Women of any age, but especially young women just entering adulthood, HATE being told to smile. In my experience, it was always some scuzzy old man telling me to do this. Why the f*ck should any woman smile for you? Smiling isn't necessarily a sign of a cheery disposition, you know--it's a sign of compliance and submission. And before you accuse me of overreacting, ask yourself if you've ever said this about a young male artist.
On a side note, I can't stand listening to Billie Eilish (and I can't believe there is another album of hers I have to avoid), but I will defend to the death her right to not smile for the placation of men.
Ohhhh SNAP!!!
here here excellent burn!
(just like to add im male.....sorry......identify as male)

Here's a little FYI to take to heart: People of any age and gender hate being told to smile. As a young boy I was always told to smile as well (while there wasn't any reason to) and my face just doesn't look "happy" in a neutral state.
Now I just tell them I would smile if they wouldn't look that ugly :P

I can't recall where on Reddit I saw the post but... The author said that some side benefits of wearing a mask over that last too many months was not being told by obnoxious men to "smile" multiple times per day. Also, she enjoyed making secret stinky faces at rude customers.

On another note when the Beatles, and others, came
on the scene way back when, everyone smiled. Then, as time marched on, the more angry the band or artist looked the better. WTF happened?

When I was a young man I was constantly told to smile, or to cheer up. Frankly it just made me scowl even more. So it doesn't only happen to young women.
FYI: This song is about you.
Come on! Does she actually ever sing words or does she always just mumble? Are there any real words in the English language that she uses, or what? I do not understand why she is popular in the least.
C'mon. Like the clothes she wears, it her style.

Well said regarding telling women to smile.
I disagree with you on Billie's music though. I kinda like it and think it is worth a listen.
I don't think the poster mentioned men.
Very talented #billieeilish... but she needs to smile more :)

Please tell me you're kidding with this. Your smiley face can be taken a few different ways.
And how could you?
Will you only feel bad if it turns out, that they kill your contract?
Would you?
Still only 19.

This is not the best comeback..... what does that even mean. Posting hides what? How? Lame.
Lyrics are pretty heavy.
Yep, and quite timely.
The more I hear Billie Eilish, the better I like her...
Whispering can hide many faults, particularly when you have no voice and nothing to say
ooooh... suck on that Bille...whoever wiseking is has an opinion about your work...maybe next time he will provide a link to his superior work

Yeah, this blows.
She's not fooling me.

The lyrics seem to be saying a lot, or were you being ironic, o wise one?
Imagine... I do not know... the Beatles or Guns and Roses singing different words to the same tune.
So. Billie and her brother (or whoever writes and/or arranges the music for her) are original. But genius (as posted here) - not even close.

The girl's a serious artist!
Initial 8 rating. Long Live RP and quirky youngsters breaking the recording industry mould!!

Yeah, go scowl tarts. But maybe do just smile for yourselves sometimes.
