I'm listening to a recording of you sleeping next to me
A capella
I'm listening to you cover Elliott Smith's 'Angeles'
It's these times I'll need if you go
It's these times I'll need if you go
So
Get better, my darling
I know you will
Get better, my darling
I know you will get better
I'm drawn to the motorway
The cold whoosh of trucks passing
This night-time under sodium light
The orange spread is soul-quieting
A younger you and a younger me
Meeting at the Serpentine
I am yours
You are mine
Happy birthday
Staff smuggled in a card I made
It rests under your pillow
When out of ICU, you'll cringe at all the "I love yous"
That card retired the life of one biro
At this time, I wanted you to know
At this time, I wanted you to know
Get better, my darling
I hope you will
Get better, my darling
I hope you will get better
I'll start the day with tiramisu
Raise a spoon to frontline workers
An underfunded principle
They risk all to be there for us
A younger you and a younger me
Meeting at the Serpentine
I am yours
You are mine
You were the baker
I'll christen this new era
With the smell of freshly-baked bread
Your Nutella, I'll keep it in the cellar
You were always a fan of that spread
Six months on, there's a car crash outside
The fire brigade using the jaws of life
No flush at night to sound your return
I still pretend you're only out of sight
Front garden bouquet, I threw it at the fire brigade
I was admonished and told to go back inside
From the living-room window
I stand and watch the white sheet go
Over the family car and I close my eyes
I still pretend you're only out of sight in another room
Smiling at your phone
I still pretend you're only out of sight in another room
Smiling at your phone
I still pretend you're only out of sight in another room
Smiling at your phone
I still pretend you're only out of sight in another room
Smiling at your phone
I still pretend
A younger me, a younger you
Meeting at the Serpentine
The beginning of spring
You wore those yellow ripped jeans
Your look defined my 2009
Your shyness stoked my boldness
"Shall we go in?" I smiled
Your hand warmed, walking through the gallery
(Get better)
I know I will
(Get better)
My darling
I know I will
I don't mind this song so much but the singing kind of annoys me.
Yeah kind of reminds me of Dave Matthews, who also annoys me.
Whenever this song comes on, I can't help but stop whatever I'm doing and just listen...it breaks my heart, every time.
Me too...

This song is getting a lot of airplay, and like a lot of songs that elicit a strong emotional response, it's not something I can really take listening to that often. We're all suffering from various shades of PTSD, and while catharsis is nice and all, it's not something you want to go through daily. So as much as I like and appreciate the song, I am hitting the skip button (and will likely continue doing so).
The frequency with which one needs catharsis is directly related to the amount of the frustration felt trying to get through the day.
Thanks Bill for asking me to listen to the story it unfolds.
Sorry, I have to go now. I seem to have something in my eye.
Jeezz RP, I’m not in a position to cry right now.
Resist it and don't give in to your emotions. Be strong.
Pair this with Steven Wilson's "Routine" . And then "I grieve" from Gabriel to finish it off...
And The Antlers' "Kettering". Phew, it's a lot.
... Kudos for their praise of the NHS and its embattled workers during the plague.
Like you said, kudos.
"An underfunded principle

They're still on their feckin knees, but it's not interesting enough any more to be reported...
in what way is this not terrible?
Primarily in your insistance in utilizing your keyboard, rather than the PSD button.
I think this is the interview Bill talked about

in what way is this not terrible?
First time i'm hearing this track, and to be honest its not immediately grabbing me.
So i keep listening to see how it goes while browsing through the comments for some insight as to how others are feeling about it.
Anyway, i get to your comment and i look up, scratch my chin and go a-reckoning "in what way is this song not terrible.... hmmm...."
Then it hits me... It clearly annoys you and that is a good enough reason its not terrible!
Great song then!
in what way is this not terrible?
Well O' king. A lot of songs don't hang together lyrically, random images evoking a feeling. Nothing wrong with that. This song seems to have a cohesive narrative of love, hope, loss and (perhaps) denial.
I have two friends (who don't know each other) fighting the good fight for another day of life. As poetry this song evokes that this grey morning. So, can't call it terrible. Be well.
Fresh music - first comment and rating. Who hoo!
Never had both before.
Interesting ending.
Getting new music more in the mix. Played again the following day.
